Colin Clark was born on 9th October 1932, together with his twin sister, Colette. His father was Lord Kenneth Clark (1903-1983) - best known for his Art history TV series 'Civilisation'. His elder brother was Alan Clark - the minister, historian and diarist, who died in 1999. Colin was educated at Eton and Oxford and then, in 1956 he got a job through has father's connections working for Laurence Olivier during the making of the Prince and the Showgirl. In 1995, Clark published his journal of the experience, 'The Prince, the Showgirl and me', to generally good reviews. Later, in 2000, he published a follow up (My Week with Marilyn) describing events that had been omitted from his original account - but this was not so well received. Some reviewers even doubted its veracity. Most of the principal characters were long since dead by then, of course. After his encounter with Monroe, Colin Clark went on to make over 100 programmes on art history, including 20 with his father. Although successful in his chosen field, Colin lived rather in the shadow of his more famous father and brother. In fact, the Epilogue to his 1997 autobiography 'Younger Brother, Younger Son' opens with "My father and my brother were both older and cleverer than I. That was inescapable, and I could do nothing about it." - and it's Alan who is pictured on the front cover of the book, not Colin. Colin Clark died on 17th December 2002 after a battle with cancer. He was survived by his third wife Helena and son Christopher.
