Even teachers can get school-girl crushes. Emma Pillsbury, the guidance counselor known for her obsessive fear of germs and old-fashioned sensibilities, spends most of the school year crushing on Will Schuester, Spanish teacher and Glee Club coach. When it seems like all hope for romance is lost (he's married and expecting a fake baby, after all), Emma agrees to marry Ken Tanaka, the P.E. teacher with a wardrobe full of short-shorts, because she knows her chances with Will are undeniably low.
Emma says yes to marriage, but she isn't keen on Ken touching her. When Ken finally realizes he'll always come second to Will, he stands her up at the altar. Emma comes close to quitting her job and leaving McKinley High...until Will stops her in the most heart-racing moment we've experienced since the show started.
After the most wonderful kiss of the century, Will and Emma date, though, technically Will is still married to Terri. All is well until their first date at Will's house gets a little steamy. As soon as their kissing begins to get a little to hot, Emma freaks out. This is when you find out Emma is still of virgin. Will is shocked by the news, but tells her all is well. In the next episode, Power of Madonna, due to the fact that Sue is blasting Madonna songs over the intercom, Emma realizes she wants to take control over her body like Madonna, so the next time she sees Will, she tells him she wants to "do the nasty" with him that night, and he happily agrees. Later in the episode you see Rachel, Finn, and Emma (who are all virgins) all looking separate bathroom mirrors, because Finn has agreed to do the nasty with Santana and Rachel has with Jessie St. James. Soon, enough all of the couples are singing "Like a Virgin" in some very intimate scenes.
The next time you see Emma, she is wearily walking into Will's office. Will has a concerned expression on his face when he sees her. During this scene you find out she didn't go through with the plan and had run out of his apartment with no shoes on. So, the number was a dream sequence.
In Bad Reputation, Sue becomes Emma's new guidance counselor. Emma is very confused over the news and seems distraught. While they are talking Sue tells Emma that Sue had bribed Will's landlord to slip baby monitors underneath his bed and couch. Doing so, Sue had found out that Will had a make-out session with Shelbi Corcaron, coach of rival show choir team Vocal Adrenaline, due to the fact Emma wouldn't go that far. Also that April Rhodes had spent the night in Will's bed. As Sue tells this to Emma, a look of horror crosses Emma's face.
Later, Emma walks into the Teacher Lunchroom to find Will talking to an elderly teacher upset over her husband's death. Emma confronts Will in front of the whole staff. She tells him about how she knows about his affairs, not mentioning Sue told her the information. He does not deny it, so she starts shouting, " You're a slut, Will. You're a slut! You're a slut! You're a slut! Everyone should know it! And I am through with you."
Later Will walks into Emma office holding flowers, telling her how sorry he is. She tells him thank you for the flowers, but how she can't look at him how she used to.
The next real Emma scene is in Journey.
