Richard B. Garnett was born in South Carolina in 1834. He attended West Point and graduated in the middle of his class. When the Civil War broke out in 1861, he stayed with his state. Stonewall Jackson accused him of cowrdes at the battle of Gaines Mill in 1862. In July 1863, Garnett was deturmed to fight glourously. This lead to his death. He rode on a horse to the stone wall at Gettysburg. Sgt. Fredrick Wheeler fired a cannon right at Garnett, thus ending his life.
