Dr. Adrian was at one time considered one of the leading authorities on Polio, but towards the end of his life questionable ethics and signs of mental illness tarneshed his reputation. He had been experimenting with cures that might reverse the unfortunate effects in semi-retirement in a small mid-western American town, and apparently hit upon the bizarre idea that human spinal fluid, and not penicillin, was the secret. It is rumored that he was involved in the deaths of several locals, although his own unfortunate demise prevented a complete revelation of the facts. The family has tried to suppress the embarassing fact that he was killed by police while terrorizing a local woman dressed in a very unconvincing ape suit.
