Apollo 13 (1995)
[Jim Lovell is told that Ken Mattingly will be too sick to fly]
Jim Lovell: I've trained for the Fra Mauro highlands... and this is FLIGHT SURGEON HORSESHIT, Deke!
Deke Slayton: Jim, if you hold out for Ken, you will not be on Apollo 13. It's your decision.

Deke Slayton: Jim, we've got a problem. I got some blood work back from the lab. Charley Duke has the measles.
Jim Lovell: [Unconcerned] So we need a new back-up.
Deke Slayton: You've all been exposed to it.
Jim Lovell: Oh, I've had the measles.
Deke Slayton: Ken Mattingly hasn't.

Deke Slayton: [as Swigert is piloting the command module for docking] Come on Rookie, park that thing!

Gene Kranz: Come on, I want whatever you guys got on the power-up procedures. We've got to get something up to these guys.
Deke Slayton: Gene, they're working on it.
Gene Kranz: I don't want the want the whole damn bible, just give me a couple of chapters. We've got to give these guys something.
Deke Slayton: They're working on it now.
NASA engineer: I'll get over there and get an estimate.
Gene Kranz: Goddamnit! I don't want another estimate! I want the procedure! Now!

The Right Stuff (1983)
[an argument rages, primarily between Shepard, Glenn, Carpenter and Cooper]
Scott Carpenter: John's right! Now, whether we like it or not, we're public figures. Whether we deserve it or not, people are going to look up to us. We have got a tremendous responsibility here.
Alan Shepard: You cannot tell a pilot what he's doing when he's not flying!
[Argument continues]
Gus Grissom: Wait a minute, wait a minute!
[turns Glenn toward him]
Gus Grissom: You've got it all wrong, the issue here ain't pussy. The issue here is monkey.
John Glenn: What?
Gus Grissom: Us. We are the monkey.
Deke Slayton: What Gus is saying is that we're missing the point. What Gus is saying is that we all heard the rumors that they want to send a monkey up first. Well, none of us wants to think that they're gonna send a monkey up to do a man's work. But what Gus is saying is that what they're trying to do to us is send a man up to do a monkey's work. Us, a bunch of college-trained chimpanzees!
Gus Grissom: Fuckin' A, bubba.
Deke Slayton: Alright, so what Gus is saying is that we've got to change things around here. He's saying that we are pilots. And we know more about what we need to fly this thing than anybody else. So what we have to do is to alter the experiment. And what that comes down to is who is gonna control this thing from here on out.
Gordon Cooper: What Gus is saying here is that we've got to stick together on this deal.

Deke Slayton: [at press conference] We're not saying anything new here. We're just saying the same things that need to be said again and again with fierce conviction.

"From the Earth to the Moon: We Have Cleared the Tower (#1.3)" (1998)
Wally Schirra: STC? Apollo 7. Either our rate needles are way outta whack, or we're getting some substantial winds up here
Skip Chauvin: Uh roger, Apollo 7. It's not your rate needles. You've got wind.
Wally Schirra: Okay then... I'm recommending a hold in the count... these winds appear to be way out of the mission rule parameters.
[long pause]
Wally Schirra: You copy that Skip? We're not happy about the wind situation here!
Skip Chauvin: Uh roger that, Wally. Do you mean a... possible scrub situation here?
Wally Schirra: I hope not! I just don't like the situation.
Deke Slayton: Wally, Deke here. We have been assured by Meteorological, that we have an acceptable launch condition. But if you want to hold, we'll hold. It's up to you.
[very long pause. Skip moves to contact Wally, but Deke waves him off]
Wally Schirra: Uh... Deke? If you say... we're in the ballpark... then, I guess we're a go.
Deke Slayton: [relieved] Roger that, Wally!
Walt Cunningham: [to Wally] Go fever, huh?
