Biography for
Dr. Andrei Smyslov (Character)
from 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968)

Dr. Andrei Smyslov is the only man in a group of Russian astronomers encountered by Dr. Heywood Floyd at the space station in "2001: A Space Odyssey." Dr. Smyslov asks several uncomfortable questions relating to the purpose of Dr. Floyd's trip to Clavius Base and the "cover story" for the reason behind his trip. Dr. Smyslov and his group do not appear in the novel version of "2001" by Arthur C. Clarke. They are instead rolled up into one person, Dr. Dimitri Moiseivitch, an old friend of Dr. Floyd.
