According to the New Testament, Judas Iscariot is the man who betrayed Jesus Christ to the Sanhedrin, or council of Jewish religious authorities, for thirty pieces of silver. In the Gospel of Matthew, he is shown as feeling profound regret for this action and hanging himself. What is ironic about this is that Judas was one of Christ's twelve disciples. His story serves as warning that everyone is susceptible to evil.
