Charlie Crews was once a by-the-book cop. Nice wife. Nice life. Looking for his twenty and his pension. Well, when a triple murder was pinned on him, he was sentenced to life in prison. There he endured 12 years of hell torture in the system. Nearly every bone in his body was broken and he received 241 sticthes. His wife divorced him, and everyone thought he did it and forgot him. After 12 years the case was reopened and DNA evidence exonorated him. Shortly after his release, he was awarded a settlement from the LAPD--an undisclosed amount of money and a detective position in LAPD where his current partner is Dani Reese, whose father is retired LAPD. Charlie now spends his time between being a detective, and unofficially trying to find out the truth in the case that got him sent to prison.

He lives in a mansion on a hill, purchased with his settlement money, but not decorated. His permanent house guest is another former guest of the Calif Dept of Corrections, a white-collar criminal.
