Brenda Lee Johnson is the Deputy Chief of the LAPD. She was born and raised in Atlanta by her parents Clay and Willie Ray Johnson and has a brother who is married and has children. Her brother and his family reside in Florida. She graduated from Georgetown University and went on to work for the CIA and then the Atlanta Police department. It was working for the CIA when she met and had an affair with Will Pope. He promised to marry her, but instead, he dumped her for Estelle, his now ex-wife. In Atlanta, she married and divorced a man who was jealous and called her out of her name. Brenda hates swear words. She moved from Atlanta to LA when Pope offered her the position Deputy Chief, unaware that her new squad resented her coming in from the outside and taking Taylor's position as head of Priority Homicide, initially called Priority Murder Squad (PMS). Brenda had this changed. Priority Homicide has grown to become the Major Crimes Division. She began dating Fritz Howard, a FBI agent she had met in D.C. and they are currently married. She has a cat named Kitty that belonged to a murder victim who's case Brenda solved. Brenda also bought this woman's house.
