"Without a Trace: Are You Now or Have You Ever Been (#1.21)" (2003)
Graham Spaulding: Jack... you look good.
Jack Malone: Yeah. I wish I could say the same for you. I hear they're quite fond of child molesters in prison.
[Spaulding laughs]
Graham Spaulding: I thought we had an understanding.
Jack Malone: We do.

[after Sam's OPR interview]
Samantha: He asked me about us. He had all this stuff. Um, security card access records of nights that we left together; phone logs.
Jack Malone: And what did you say?
Samantha: I told him it wasn't true.
Jack Malone: You have no idea of what he knows or doesn't know. That's his ace up the sleeve - that's how he wins.
Samantha: I was just trying to protect you.
Jack Malone: Yeah, but you didn't have to lie. Even if he had hard evidence, there's nothing he could do about it.
Samantha: We broke at least half a dozen conduct codes.
Jack Malone: And lying to an OPR investigator could get you fired.
Samantha: And sleeping with an agent under your command could get you fired. I'm sorry I lied. I was just trying to save your ass.

[Once again, after Sam's OPR interview]
Jack Malone: You want to take me down, that's fine - give it your best shot.
Agt. Jason Farrell: We weren't scheduled to meet, were we?
Jack Malone: [livid] You come into MY house and you mess with MY people, you better not miss, you little piss wad!
Agt. Jason Farrell: I'm gonna ask you to leave right now.
[Farrell points to the door]
Jack Malone: [ignores him] This is where I work, you pencil-pushing little maggot!
[knocks a mug of pens and pencils off the desk]
Jack Malone: This is where I work! And not the kind of crap that you do - I don't push through other people's garbage.
[Farrell stands up]
Agt. Jason Farrell: Are you threatening me, Agent Malone?
Jack Malone: You take it any way you want!

[about the Spaulding trial]
Vivian: Jack, you can't.
Jack Malone: Yeah? Just watch me.
Vivian: You can't lie in court.
Jack Malone: You think I'm going to let Spaulding walk away? He kills and abuses children. He's done it twice, and he's going to do it again.
Vivian: Oh, so could you live with yourself?
Jack Malone: Hey, I can live with one less pedophile being on the street.
Vivian: You compromise your sense of Right, and there's one less of you.
Jack Malone: I have a feeling there's about to be one less of me anyway, and if I'm going down, I'm taking Spaulding with me.
Vivian: All right, we know that Farrell's a bastard, but he can't beat you unless you let him.
Jack Malone: What do you want me to do, Viv? I am screwed either way.
Vivian: I know.

[Jack confesses to refusing to give Spaulding a lawyer during his interrogation]
Judge H. Adderly: Agent Malone, you knowingly and willfully violated this man's right to be questioned with an attorney present. What were you thinking?
[Jack looks at the Judge]
Jack Malone: I can tell you exactly what I was thinking. I was thinking it was 38 degrees in the Coleman Caves, and that there was a terrified young man in one of them, tied up like an animal, shot full of drugs so that Mr. Spaulding could have sex with him. I was thinking that if I turned around and went back to New York, so Mr. Spaulding could consult with his attorney, Andy Deaver would be dead by the time I got back. I can also tell you what I was not thinking. I was not thinking about his constitutional rights. I was not thinking about evidence suppression or even this trial. That's the job of this court. And this court will decide whatever it decides. But I can say this without reservation:... Given the same set of circumstances, I would do exactly the same thing because my primary responsibility was to save Andy Deaver. That's my job.
Jack Malone: That's my job.
[Note: this is what Jack did instead of lying in court]

[after the trial, on a bench in front of the courthouse]
Jack Malone: [amused] So you guys just tore them up?
Samantha: Well, Farrell had the originals. We tore up copies. It was more of a symbolic gesture.
Jack Malone: [smiles] I appreciate the gesture and the symbolism.
Samantha: You were right, you know.
Jack Malone: About what?
Samantha: It was dumb to lie to Farrell.
Jack Malone: Not as dumb as what I just did in there. I think I let a killer walk free, and I lost my job all in one hit.
Samantha: You know, when Farrell asked me about us, my instinct was to tell him the truth... because it's been really hard for me not telling anyone... being around you all the time and pretending like nothing never happened, you know?
Jack Malone: [quietly] I know.
Samantha: I don't think I was lying to save you. I think, in that moment, I thought maybe... if I say this, if everybody knows... then it really will be over.
[pauses and looks over at Jack]
Samantha: It is over, isn't it?
[Jack reaches out and brushes some hair out of Sam's eyes]
Jack Malone: Yeah, it's over.
[Sam leans onto Jack's shoulder. Jack put his arm over her, and rests his cheek on her head]

"Without a Trace: The Source (#1.18)" (2003)
[Delia Rivers left a message for Jack before she disappeared]
Samantha: You might be the last person she called.
Jack Malone: [regretfully] I should've called her back.

[Messing with a dealer's pinball game]
Danny: Hey, full tilt.
Jack Malone: Sorry about that.
Freddy Katan: [calmly] Accidents happen.

[Checking Freddy Katan's alibi]
Jack Malone: Let's hope for your sake that she is hiding. Where were you last night?
Freddy Katan: With my attorney.
Jack Malone: All night? You guys having a sleepover?
Paul Summers: We were working late on a business deal. Now, unless you have a formal complaint against my client, this conversation is over.
Jack Malone: We'll be in touch.
[Danny points at Paul]
Danny: Harvard, '92?
[Paul winks at Jack and Danny before they leave]

[Jack's wife and kids are in his office after being threatened by Freddy Katan]
Jack Malone: How are the kids?
Marie: Uh, Kate's making a, uh, Hogwarts Schoolhouse out of paper clips, and... Hannah managed to find an US magazine with Hilary Duff on the cover, so...
Jack Malone: Who the hell's Hilary Duff?

[after Freddy Katan's been arrested]
Samantha: I heard about Hannah. Is she okay?
Jack Malone: It's complicated.
Samantha: Did you tell her her dad caught the bad guy?
Jack Malone: I told her there are no bad guys.

"Without a Trace: Victory for Humanity (#1.19)" (2003)
[about Josh Abrams' parents]
Samantha: Just a little bit controlling.
Jack Malone: Wonder if they let him go to the bathroom by himself.

[Once again, about Josh Abrams' parents]
Jack Malone: You didn't meet his parents. Maybe he cracked under the pressure of being Mr. Perfect, grabbed a hundred G's and jetted off to Bangkok.

[after tracing Teri's location]
Jack Malone: We'll send in the locals.
Samantha: Jack, this is a kidnapping.
Jack Malone: She'll be 17 in three weeks. It's a technicality.
Samantha: This girl is damaged, okay? And she is being taken advantage of.
Jack Malone: Look, the life she's leaving behind isn't much better with that father and that brother. What do you want to do, put her in a foster home?
Samantha: [softly] She's just a kid.

[Teri has run-off for good]
Samantha: We're not going to find her, are we?
Jack Malone: Canadian border's too hard to cover.
Samantha: Yeah. Pretty sophisticated plan, though.
Jack Malone: She read Hammett, right?
Samantha: Yeah. Femme Fatale.
Jack Malone: Yeah.
Samantha: I ran away when I was her age.
Jack Malone: I'm not surprised. How far did you get?
Samantha: My mom tracked me down at the bus station the next town over.
Jack Malone: Did you catch hell?
Samantha: I remember when I saw her... just having someone look for me, that was enough to keep me from trying it again.
Jack Malone: It's a good thing.

"Without a Trace: There Goes the Bride (#1.15)" (2003)
[auctioneer's daughter is kidnapped]
Jack Malone: Why didn't you contact us when you got the call?
Mr. Beckworth: I thought I could handle it myself.
Jack Malone: Yeah, with your extensive knowledge of selling Ming vases?

[about a big wedding]
Jack Malone: Very good. The society page says this is the first big event of the season.
Martin: You read the society page, huh?
Jack Malone: Uh-huh. Right after I read the obits.

Jack Malone: According to the groom, she was an angel.
Martin: I guess love is blind. And deaf, And very, very dumb.
Jack Malone: Spoken like a true romantic.

Martin: You know I just keep wondering if Charlie knew all along. I mean he was in that house too. Who knows? Maybe that's why he married her. He was trying to save her.
Jack Malone: Maybe. Maybe it was love.

"Without a Trace: Check Your Head (#4.17)" (2006)
John Michael 'Jack' Malone: [interrogating a clearly drunk suspect] You're a stalker Mr. Hill. You are the principle suspect in a kidnapping case. You've written her I don't know how many letters, you're a drunk and apparently you're an idiot.

John Michael 'Jack' Malone: I'm agent Malone from the FBI. You wanna tell me what's going on?
Rachel Gibson: I just need to lie here six more hours and I'll be cured.
John Michael 'Jack' Malone: Just... Just tell me what happened the night that Peter left.
Rachel Gibson: [Looks surprised at Jack]
John Michael 'Jack' Malone: Come on, look, I know everything, ok. I know about the convict, the laundry guy, the mobster and for somebody who's been locked away in their apartment for two years your life is a hell of a lot interesting than mine.
Rachel Gibson: You don't know the half of it!
John Michael 'Jack' Malone: Then fill me in, I still got to do the paper work...

John Michael 'Jack' Malone: [after finding Rachel in the bowling alley and hearing her story] You know what, enough already, alright. The trespassing, out! Get out of there now!
Rachel Gibson: What is wrong with you?
John Michael 'Jack' Malone: We don't have enough time to discuss that subject. What is wrong with you?
Rachel Gibson: I'm an agoraphobic!
John Michael 'Jack' Malone: You live 15 miles from here! You gotta be the worlds worst agoraphobic! Look, the only reason that you're laying here is that you don't have the guts to tell... your girlfriend that you like her.
Rachel Gibson: I've never been a lesbian. I don't know what to do.
John Michael 'Jack' Malone: I've never been a lesbian either... But I did have this dream once, though, but that's a different subject. Look I can't help you, ok! But I have a feeling you'll be able to figure this out. So, come on. Get out of there.

Danny Taylor: We're morbid, Jack.
John Michael 'Jack' Malone: Why's that?
Danny Taylor: Well, unless something really bad is happening to somebody, it just doesn't feel like a day at the office.
John Michael 'Jack' Malone: Yeah, well, I'll have you know that underneath this black suit lies an eternal optimist.
Danny Taylor: Hmm. All I'm saying is, it's a nice change.
John Michael 'Jack' Malone: At least nobody died.

"Without a Trace: Safe (#4.2)" (2005)
Jack Malone: I'm Special Agent Malone.
Lance: Hm. Impressive title.
Jack Malone: Oh, you're a funny guy.

Jack Malone: You duct-taped Ryan to a chair, and you shocked him with an electrical cord.
Lance: No, I didn't.
Jack Malone: Yeah, we found his blood on the chair, and his urine on the floor. Do not mess with me.
Lance: All right, look, man. Okay we shocked him a little. All right? But we had no choice.
Jack Malone: You had no choice? Life's full of choices - you just chose 20 to life.

Jack Malone: Charlie have any reason to fear you?
Lance: No.
Jack Malone: I want you to pick up your phone and call him.
Lance: All right, but, uh... 'kay, then you got to do something for me.Like... you know immunity.
Jack Malone: Immunity from what?
Lance: From what we did to Ryan.
Jack Malone: What'd you do to Ryan?
Lance: I already told you.
Jack Malone: I think you killed him.
Lance: What?
Jack Malone: I think you killed Charlie, too.
Lance: Why would I kill Charlie?
Jack Malone: Because, you were afraid he'd fold.
Lance: No. Hey, hey, no! Listen, to me. I told you the truth, man.
Jack Malone: Let me tell you some thing, if we don't find your friends the truth's not gonna matter. Juries convict sick bastards like you every day, and five minutes later they go and get a book deal.
Lance: No, I'm...
Jack Malone: You draw the wrong judge, the one that's looking to run for governor, we're talking lethal injection. You're 17 - they can try you as an adult.
Lance: But I swear to God, I didn't kill anyone!
Jack Malone: Then pick up the phone and call your friend and prove to me that he's okay.

Jack Malone: Abu Ghraib comes to high school.

"Without a Trace: Hang on to Me (#1.13)" (2003)
[about Chet Collins' missing son]
Vivian: I don't think you should give up.
Jack Malone: Sometimes I wish I could.

[about Chet Collins removing money from his bank account]
Martin: Yeah... or could be drugs.
Jack Malone: [immediately] It's not drugs.
Samantha: It's happened to better men than Chet, Jack. Men who've had it a lot easier.
Jack Malone: Not this man. Move on.

[about Chet's missing son]
Vivian: What happened the last time Chet came in here?
Jack Malone: I told you, nothing.
Vivian: Okay. Now, tell me the truth.
Jack Malone: Vivian, back off.
Vivian: Did you just tell me to back off?
Jack Malone: Yeah, back off.
Vivian: Jack! This is not your personal crusade. I've spent just as much time on this case as you have, and whatever happened between you and Chet is relevant to this investigation. It is not a private moment. You need to share it with the rest of the team, which includes me.

"Without a Trace: Confidence (#2.3)" (2003)
[talking with fiancé of a missing socialite]
Christopher Mayes: She went to the... store to get cigarettes. It's something she's done 100 times. Look, I... I already told the other, uh, agent all of this.
Jack Malone: Yeah, well, sorry to inconvenience you.

[once again, with the fiancé of a missing socialite]
Christopher Mayes: There wasn't anything that I really remember.
Jack Malone: Was it because you were drinking or are you having problems with your short-term memory?

[yet again, with the fiancé of a missing socialite]
Jack Malone: What's your business?
Christopher Mayes: I'm between careers.
Jack Malone: Which ones?
Christopher Mayes: The one I spend pleasantly living off my inheritance, and the one where I actually find something meaningful to do.

"Without a Trace: Gung-Ho (#2.17)" (2004)
[about questioning the wife of a missing soldier]
Jack Malone: Coming, Captain?
Captain Meyers: I spoke with her earlier. I have a feeling she'll be more forthcoming without me there.
Jack Malone: Not too fond of the military?
Captain Meyers: Those left behind usually aren't.

Jack Malone: What is this, Captain Meyers? Don't ask, don't tell?
Captain Meyers: I can't tell much when I don't know much.

Nell Clausen: Hi.
Martin Fitzgerald: Nice to meet you.
Jack Malone: Wanna come out here and lie to me some more?

Jack Malone: So do you have a plan yet?
Tara Patterson: Sort of.
Jack Malone: That's good.
Tara Patterson: My mom's not gonna think so.
Jack Malone: Well, you know what parents are like. No matter how old you get, you're always their baby. It doesn't matter if you threw up on them or kept them up all night because you were crying or because you got pregnant. In the end, all they wanna do is hold you and tell you that they love you.

"Without a Trace: Midnight Sun (#1.10)" (2002)

Jack Malone: Because he was checking *you* out.

Jack Malone: The report came back. It cleared you of any wrongdoing.
Vivian Johnson: [Vivian remains frozen]
Jack Malone: I like working with you Vivian.
Jack Malone: But don't you ever lie to me again.

Jack Malone: Just because we're dealing with a schizophrenic doesn't mean we're dealing with a random, haphazard set of events. Delusions, which are one of the hallmarks of this disease, are defined as fixed false beliefs. So they're organized in a systematic fashion.
Samantha Spade: Wow. We always kind of thought that psych degree on your wall was one of those mail-in jobs.
[Sam laughs]
Jack Malone: [smirking] No, that would be my bowling award.

"Without a Trace: No Mas (#1.20)" (2003)

Danny: That's good to know.

[about Vivian's son]
Jack Malone: How's Reggie?
Vivian: He's a little confused. He was about five minutes away from meeting his hero, and then this happened.
Jack Malone: What'd you tell him?
Vivian: I told him I'd find out what happened.
Jack Malone: That's a hell of a promise.

"Without a Trace: Malone v. Malone (#3.10)" (2004)
Bernie Scoggins: [in regard to the Katan case, where Maria and the girls were confronted] Let me ask you, if you want to get sole custody of Hanna and Kate, how can you be sure nothing like that will ever happen again?
Jack Malone: I can't be. Any more than you can be sure you won't get hit by a bus when you walk out of here.
Bernie Scoggins: So you're not concerned about it?
Jack Malone: About you being hit by a bus? Not really.

"Without a Trace: In Extremis (#1.9)" (2002)

"Without a Trace: A Bend in the Road (#6.14)" (2008)
Olczyk: How do you feel?
Jack Malone: They have a term for it. Um... crap.

"Without a Trace: Volcano (#3.13)" (2005)
Daniel Norville: [Jack is leaving the scene after finding the boy] Agent Malone! I should thank you. For everything you did for our family. I know you we're just doing your job.

Danny: Thanks, Dr. Freud.

"Without a Trace: Second Sight (#3.19)" (2005)
Jack Malone: So, who're we lookin' at?
Samantha: Agnes Deschamps, she's, uh, 25 years old. This is her store. She sells new age products out front, she does psychic readings back here, she lives upstairs. Nobody's seen her for a couple days.
Jack Malone: So who called it in?
Samantha: Another psychic that works with her. She's on her way here now.
Jack Malone: She could've saved herself some time and told us where to look.

"Without a Trace: Deep Water (#5.17)" (2007)

Jack Malone: You are aware that she was gonna vote to block the drilling.
Hayden Mills: I'm trying to find your daughter.
Jack Malone: You're not going to find her under your desk.
Jack Malone: And how is your investigation going, Mr. Mills? Turned up any leads? You have to let me do my job, okay? It's not a pissing contest. I am just trying to find her and bring her back alive, you understand?
Hayden Mills: What do you need from me?
Jack Malone: Tell me about your son-in-law.
Hayden Mills: Alan? He He's fine.
Jack Malone: That's the extent of your opinion of the man that married your daughter?
Hayden Mills: Patty always viewed marriage as some kind of an affront to women's lib. I told her, it's that much harder for a single woman to win a Senate seat. Family values and all that crap. She finally came around, and Alan was in the right place at the right time.
