Pocketful of Miracles -- Apple Annie is an impish, gin-swilling New York City apple peddler who, through various enterprises, has saved enough to support her daughter--who has been at a posh European finishing school and has never seen her mother. The young woman, who thinks her mother is a society matron, is about to visit "The Big Apple." Apple Annie panics, thinking she will be discovered and disowned. But one of Apple Annie's hoodlum chums has the idea for an elaborate masquerade... Based on 1933's Lady For a Day, which was adapted from a Damon Runyon story.
Pocketful of Miracles -- Boozy, brassy Apple Annie, a beggar with a basket of apples, is as much as part of downtown New York as old Broadway itself...
