Death Sentence (2007)
Nicholas "Nick" Hume: Where are you, you bastard?
Billy Darly: You want to send me a reward for finding that wallet of yours?
Nicholas "Nick" Hume: You tell me where the fuck you are, right now!
Billy Darly: No, I'll tell you where the fuck you are. You're in my end of the fucking sewer, buddy. I say who lives. I say who dies. Now you better get that through your fucking skull, because there's no more warnings. I'm coming for some fucking family time.
Nicholas "Nick" Hume: No. You listen to me. You go near my family, and I will cut out your goddamn guts like I did your fucking friend. Do you hear me?
Billy Darly: He wasn't my friend. He was my brother. And now I'm coming for the rest of your family. You just bought them a death sentence, motherfucker.

Bodie: Nice office, motherfucker.
Nicholas "Nick" Hume: What the hell do you want?
[hands Nick a wrapped package]
Bodie: That's the gift of freedom, baby.
Armed Guard: Sir, should we escort the person out? Sir?
Bodie: Free from wondering how you gonna die now. You're free from wondering if you're gonna die alone, you hear?
Armed Guard: [to guards] Get him out of here.
Bodie: 'Cause you'll get joy and grace all over... when you finally meet your maker.

Owen: How are you guys faring? Getting through?
Nicholas "Nick" Hume: Yeah, we're okay. We find compensations. That's what we do, right? We compensate for our losses. Move on.
Owen: If anything like that ever happened to me I just, I don't know. I think I'd snap.
Nicholas "Nick" Hume: Well, you don't really know what you'd do until it happens. Surprise yourself.

Detective Wallis: The guy we thought killed your son; somebody killed him.
Nicholas "Nick" Hume: [trying to act normal] Oh. What was that, some kind of gang thing?
Detective Wallis: We think so. Thought you'd like to know. If he was the guy, I mean.

Nicholas "Nick" Hume: [to Billy] Ready?

Bones Darly: Help you?
Nicholas "Nick" Hume: I need guns.
Bones Darly: I don't know you.
Nicholas "Nick" Hume: I came from the Four Roses.
Bones Darly: I'm gonna guess. You're a little far from home.
[Nick shows Bones a backpack full of money]
Bones Darly: [changing his tone] Well, don't let me smell fear on you. Fear is for the enemy. Fear and bullets. Lost of fucking bullets.

Heco: Billy! That fucker didn't die Billy! That fucker didn't die!
Billy Darly: What the fuck are you talking about?
Heco: He said you're sentenced.
Billy Darly: So what?
Nicholas "Nick" Hume: So this, motherfucker.

Nicholas "Nick" Hume: It was never gonna balance.
Detective Wallis: What did you say?
Nicholas "Nick" Hume: The equation. Sometimes it's... just chaos. That's all there is.

[first lines]
Nicholas "Nick" Hume: [while recording his family at Christmas] Okay, guys. Ready?

Owen: What's that "order in the universe" thing?
Nicholas "Nick" Hume: Well, our insurer spent 300,000 bucks on this new model - new field data, new society. Who is the ideal employee? Who dies how and when? And they sent it over to show what a great job they're doing. And you know what it says? It says that people with kids live longer than people with no kids. People with two live longer than people with one. Smoking is bad. Speeding is bad. Deaths in the family are bad. Divorce is bad. It's just kind of nice to see that all that junk is still true.

Michael Barring: Today's easy. I need you to sit there, put the fear of god in this guy. If the judge asks you, you tell him what you told us and identify Darley in court. Okay? The minute I get your statement, and with you sitting right there, the public defender's going to wet his pants and fold. I'll make a deal in five minutes, get this guy in jail today. Easy peasy.
Nicholas "Nick" Hume: Deal? Wait, wait. Hang on - what do you mean? What deal? I want this guy to go away for the rest of his life.
Michael Barring: No. I can get you three to five guaranteed. That's a very decent result. I'm talking guaranteed time. Not maybe, not the jury didn't feel up to it. That's worth more than chasing some make-believe ten to life, and the guy walks free. You want that?
Nicholas "Nick" Hume: He killed my son.
Michael Barring: Mr. Hume, I've got one eyewitness - you. That's nice, but do you know how many cases with one witness I don't even bother to try for a deal on? The machete magically disappeared. The only blood we could find on that weasel was his own from when the car clipped him. And you picked the only gas station in America without a working surveillance camera. We've just got your word. That's not bad, if I can scare the guy into a deal.
Nicholas "Nick" Hume: You're using my son's death like some kind of card trick.
Michael Barring: Look - I get a banger off the street. A year or so, somebody does my job for me. He doesn't get out of there alive - fine with me. He finds Jesus - fine with me. But we get religion and go to trial - as much as I'd love to - and the defense starts working on "when was your last eye exam?" and "what do you have against inner city youth?" And how unfair it is for them to grow up so violent. How they're forced into initiation killings or face execution themselves. Do you want a jury feeling sorry for this fucker? Huh?
Nicholas "Nick" Hume: Wait. You said initiation killing. I thought this was a robbery.
Detective Wallis: It only looked like one. It was an initiation. You kill someone at random to get made in a gang. It's the price of admission.
Nicholas "Nick" Hume: Are you saying that Brendan was killed so that some asshole could feel more like a man? So that he could be in some club?
Michael Barring: This is a take it or leave it thing, I'm sorry to say.

Nicholas "Nick" Hume: Hey, Lukey. Can you hear me? Can you move your fingers? Son, just move your fingers if you can hear me?
[Luke's hand remains motionless]
Nicholas "Nick" Hume: Luke, I know that um, that you think that I didn't care about you as much as your brother. And god, I don't know. Maybe I didn't at first. You know, when your mom and I first had Brendan, he was just - he was so amazing to me, you know. He was like this miracle, and I always knew exactly what to expect with him. And then when you came along, I don't know, I kind of expected to have another Brendan, you know. I expected you to be just like him but, but you weren't. I mean, you were so different than anyone. Different than me. You're just so much more... so much more like your mom. You know, stubborn and... too much passion. Your mother - oh, she meant the world to me... and so do you. I just want you to know that I love you. I love you so much. I love your brother, and I love your mother. I love our family and I... and I'm so sorry that I wasn't a better father. I'm so sorry that I couldn't protect you guys.

Nicholas "Nick" Hume: I'm looking for Billy Darley or any of his friends.
[Sammy speaks in Spanish, and so Nick throws down some money]
Sammy: [in Spanish] I said I don't speak English, you son of a bitch. Got it now, boss?
Nicholas "Nick" Hume: [in Spanish] Maybe if I chop off that piece of shit you call a head... and sent it to your mother, she'd recognize you. But I doubt it, boss.

Bones Darly: [after Nick chooses his guns] That's three fucking grand worth of killing. You got three grand worth of killing to do?
Nicholas "Nick" Hume: [throwing down bundles of money] There's five.
Bones Darly: Well, that makes you a preferred customer.

Bones Darly: [cocking a pistol] You the motherfucker after my son Billy?
Nicholas "Nick" Hume: [shocked] He's your son?
Bones Darly: That'd make you the motherfucker who killed Joe. That right? You killed my youngest? Now you're after Billy, yeah?
Nicholas "Nick" Hume: Yeah. I'm after him.
Bones Darly: Well, Billy's no damn doing of mine. Anything he didn't no damn doing of mine. So, somebody needs to make somebody pay for something to make themselves feel better. Billy'd be the one to pay. Kill the little piss-pants. See if it makes a damn day's difference to me. Dad to dad, don't tell me about it. Just... go do it. Lord knows I've been patient, and you're a cash fucking customer. But you think about asking me where Billy is... I'll kill ya. Go your way now.
[Nick starts to leave]
Bones Darly: Go with God... And a bag full of guns.

Helen Hume: I can't believe I didn't see what was going on with you. How could you do what you did? You thought you could... balance the equation... put order in the universe.
Nicholas "Nick" Hume: I lost our boy. Your boy.
Helen Hume: You are a good father, and nothing that's happened changes that. And I love you. And I always will.

Nicholas "Nick" Hume: Where are you going?
Brendan Hume: I need my fluids, dad.

Death Wish 3 (1985)
Paul Kersey: A .475 Wildey magnum is a shorter version of the African big game cartridge, it makes a real mess.

Kathryn Davis: I hope you like chicken. It's the only thing I know how to make.
Paul Kersey: Chicken's good. I like chicken.

Bennett: They call him "The Giggler".
Paul Kersey: Jesus, he really moves.

Mrs. Kaprov: [inspecting a booby-trap, Kersey notices something] What is it?
Paul Kersey: Teeth.

Paul Kersey: Hey, what's the problem?
Punk at Car #1: What?
Paul Kersey: With the car... what's the problem?
Punk at Car #1: Just get outta my fuckin' face. Who are you?
Punk at Car #2: We're stealing a fuckin' car, what's it to you?
Paul Kersey: It's my car.
Punk at Car #1: Now you gonna die!
[Kersey shoots them both dead]

Paul Kersey: I'm going out for some ice cream... this is America, isn't it?

Paul Kersey: My friend Wildey's coming.

Bennett: We heard shots. What happened?
Paul Kersey: I sent them a message.

Bennett: What's the car for?
Paul Kersey: Bait.

Doctor at hospital: Mrs. Rodriguez has expired.
Paul Kersey: But you told me over the phone she only had a broken arm?

Bennett: [after watching Kersey make his own bullets for half an hour] You load the shells yourself?
Paul Kersey: Nothing's too good for our friends!

Paul Kersey: It's like killing roaches - you have to kill 'em all, otherwise what's the use?

Paul Kersey: Do you always violate peoples Constitutional Rights?
Richard S. Shriker: Well this is MY jail, Kersey, and I'M the LAW. That means I GET to violate your Constitutional Rights!
[punches Kersey in the face]

Rodriguez: [to Kersey, about the package just arrived in the mail] What is it?
Paul Kersey: A LAWS missile launcher. Anti tank, anti personnel. These rounds are self propelling, armour piercing. The round arms three feet out of the barrel. Won't do me much good though, unless I can get them bunched...
Rodriguez: All I got is a zip gun.
Paul Kersey: Well, we should get a few of them...

Death Wish V: The Face of Death (1994)
Paul Kersey: [Points gun to O'Shea] Guns make you nervous?

Paul Kersey: [Over walkie talkie] I'm coming for you, O'Shea.

Tony Hoyle: Let the law take these guys down. You know, sometimes the law works.
Paul Kersey: And Sometimes it doesn't! These people, they steal, they murder, they destroy people's lives and they get away with it! They have alibis, money, lawyers, power. They have everything.

Tommy O'Shea: Wait! Whatever you want. Whatever you need.
Paul Kersey: I don't need anything. But *you*. You need a bath!
[Pushes him into a vat of liquid plastic]

Paul Kersey: Hey, Freddie! I'm gonna cure your dandruff problem, for you!
Paul Kersey: [Detonates Bomb]

Olivia Regent: [Looking in the mirror] Tell me, Paul, what do you see?
Paul Kersey: I see the women I'm going to marry.

[last lines]
Paul Kersey: Hey Lieutenant, if you need any help, give me a call.

[Night, Paul Kersey is sitting on a bed with a doll in his hand, when Hector Vasquez enters the room, Paul sees him through a mirror, he has a gun in his hand]
Hector Vasquez: I didn't think it would be this easy, Kersey.
[Kersey suddenly turns around with a revolver in hand and shoots Vasquez twice in the chest, Vasquez falls to the floor]
Paul Kersey: Neither did I.

Chuck Paconi: [pointing a gun at Paul] You got a problem?
Tommy O'Shea: Guns make you nervous?
Paul Kersey: Guns have their uses. Idiots with guns make me nervous.

[In the Paconi Family restaurant, Paul has just poisoned Chuck Paconi, who is sitting down, making horrible gagging and choking sounds]
Paul Kersey: You got a problem?
[Chuck looks up at Paul, still choking. Paul pushes Chuck's face onto the table and then walks out of the restaurant]

[Tommy O'Shea is taking his daughter with him, he tosses some papers at Paul, while Sal and Chuck Paconi look on]
Tommy O'Shea: Read 'em and weep, she's coming with me.
Paul Kersey: Like hell she is.
[Paul punches Tommy, but Sal and Chuck grab Paul and hit him from behind with a log, knocking him unconscious, Sal and Chuck then proceed to help Tommy get up]
Tommy O'Shea: Son of a bitch is quick.
[Tommy, Sal, and Chuck leave the house]

Death Wish (1974)
Jack Toby: We gotta let the cops handle this, Dad!
Paul Kersey: Yeah?
Paul Kersey: Well, what if the cops can't handle this, Jack?

Sam Kreutzer: [Sam complains about the crime situation in the city] You know, decent people are going to have to work here and live somewhere else.
Paul Kersey: By "decent people," you mean people who can afford to live somewhere else.
Sam Kreutzer: Oh Christ, you are such a bleeding-heart liberal, Paul.
Paul Kersey: My heart bleeds a little for the underprivileged, yes.
Sam Kreutzer: The underprivileged are beating our goddamned brains out. You know what I say? Stick them in concentration camps, that's what I say.

Paul Kersey: You've got a prime figure. You really have, you know.
Joanna Kersey: That's a euphemism for fat.

Paul Kersey: Any chance of catching these men?
Lt. Briggs: There's a chance, sure.
Paul Kersey: Just a chance?
Lt. Briggs: I'd be less than honest if I gave you more hope, Mr. Kersey. In the city, that's the way it is.

Ames Jainchill: You're probably one of them knee-jerk liberals that thinks us gun boys would shoot our guns because it's an extension of our penises.
Paul Kersey: Never thought about it that way. It could be true.
Ames Jainchill: Well, maybe it is. But this is gun country.

Frank Ochoa: We want you to get out of New York... Permanently.
Paul Kersey: [pause] Inspector... By sundown?

Paul Kersey: Nothing to do but cut and run, huh? What else? What about the old American social custom of self-defense? If the police don't defense us, maybe we ought to do it ourselves.
Jack Toby: We're not pioneers anymore, Dad.
Paul Kersey: What are we, Jack?
Jack Toby: What do you mean?
Paul Kersey: I mean, if we're not pioneers, what have we become? What do you call people who, when they're faced with a condition or fear, do nothing about it, they just run and hide?
Jack Toby: Civilized?
Paul Kersey: No.

Sam Kreutzer: [Paul and Sam listen to a police statement on the news] I'll bet muggings are down, and they're afraid to tell us.
Paul Kersey: There's only one way to find out. Take a walk on Columbus Avenue tonight.
Sam Kreutzer: Thanks a lot, Paul. I think I'll wait for the official report.

Paul Kersey: [Kersey confronts the mugger who has wounded him in the leg] Hey!
[the mugger faces Kersey and knows Kersey has the drop on him]
Paul Kersey: Fill your hand.
Mugger: [Puzzled, evidently not familiar with the old-West metaphor] Huh?
Paul Kersey: Draw.
[Kersey passes out and the mugger flees]

Paul Kersey: Death!

Paul Kersey: Not great, but pretty damn good.

Paul Kersey: I was just using the... toilet?

Ed Zacharias: [as Kersey walks to him] Who are you?
Paul Kersey: I'm the guy that set you up.

Paul Kersey: I DO!
[Then Kersey shoots Ed dead]

[we hear several gunshots on Skid Row and the end credits roll]

Paul Kersey: Where's my wallet?
Jiver: I ain't got it!

Paul Kersey: [after getting caught killing Charles 'Nivana' Wilson] He raped and killed my daughter.
Donald Kay: I know. I know who you are, Mr. Kersey. I read about that in the newspapers.
[after a short pause]
Donald Kay: I'll give you three minutes before I sound the alarm.
Paul Kersey: [caught off guard] Why are you doing this?
Donald Kay: You're wasting time.

Paul Kersey: [Noticing the cross on Nirvana's neck] You believe in Jesus.
Nirvana: [Nervously because Paul Kersey has a gun pointed at him] Yes, I do.
Paul Kersey: Well, you're going to meet him.
[then he shoots Nirvana]
