Quasimodo is the main tragic hero in Victor Hugo classic tale, he is the huncback of Notre Dame. Quasimodo was an abandoned baby left at Notre Dame and adopted by Archdeacon Claude Frollo. Hideously deformed and he has a giant humpback. He is also deaf. His heart is pure, and this purity is linked to the cathedral itself. He love for Notre Dame's bells and for the beautiful sound of their ringing represents his only friends. The whole of Paris ironically enjoys Quasimodo whild at the same time destesting him for his ugliness. He was later saved Esmerelda from execution and gave her sancutary. The name Quasimodo means "half-made".
