Alice (2000) (VG)
Alice Liddell: You've gone quite mangy, cat... but your grin's a comfort.
Cheshire Cat: And you've picked up a bit of an attitude, still curious and willing to learn, I hope.

Cheshire Cat: How fine you look when dressed in rage. Your enemies are fortunate your condition is not permanent. You're lucky, too. Red eyes suit so few.

Alice Liddell: And if not, there must be more than one way to skin a cat, If you'll... pardon the expression.
Cheshire Cat: Most unpleasant metaphor. Please avoid it in the future.

Cheshire Cat: Here's a riddle: When is a croquet mallet like a billy club? I'll tell you: Whenever you want it to be!

Cheshire Cat: Is our situation not dismal? Wonderland is so discombobulated that lady bugs have turned belligerent and enlisted in the queen's army! PUNISH THEIR CONVERSION!

Cheshire Cat: I can't know everything, pretend you're an orphan.
Cheshire Cat: That was rude, you *are*! Rabbit knows a thing or two and I myself, don't need a weathervane to tell which way the wind blows.

Cheshire Cat: To the royal guards of this realm, we are all victims in-waiting.

Cheshire Cat: Only the insane equate pain with success.

Cheshire Cat: Every adventure requires a first step. Trite, but true, even here.

Cheshire Cat: The uninformed must improve their deficit, or die.

Cheshire Cat: Those who say there's nothing like a nice cup of tea for calming the nerves never had *real* tea. It's like a syringe of adrenaline straight to the heart!

Cheshire Cat: Only a few find the way, some don't recognize it when they do - some... don't ever want to.

Cheshire Cat: The Queen is dead and gone. Well, at least she's gone... for now. Long live Alice! Long live Wonderland.

Cheshire Cat: Meta-Essence is the life-force of Wonderland. That of your enemies is especially potent. Collect what you can. Use it wisely.

Cheshire Cat: If your stature were an illness, it seems that the Centipede dispenses medicine to make you well.

Cheshire Cat: I've never trusted toadstools, but I suppose some must have their good points.

Cheshire Cat: Let your *need* guide you behavior. *Supress* your instinct to lead... Pursue Rabbit!

Cheshire Cat: The proper order of things is often a mystery to me. You, too?

Cheshire Cat: I'm afraid I have to expel a rather ferocious hairball. You're on your own, girl.

Cheshire Cat: Haste makes waste, so I rarely hurry. But if a ferret were about to dart up my dress, I'd run.

Alice in Wonderland (1951)
Cheshire Cat: Oh, by the way, if you'd really like to know, he went that way.
Alice: Who did?
Cheshire Cat: The White Rabbit.
Alice: He did?
Cheshire Cat: He did what?
Alice: Went that way.
Cheshire Cat: Who did?
Alice: The White Rabbit.
Cheshire Cat: What rabbit?
Alice: But didn't you just say - I mean - Oh, dear.
Cheshire Cat: Can you stand on your head?
Alice: Oh!

Cheshire Cat: If I were looking for a white rabbit, I'd ask the Mad Hatter.
Alice: The Mad Hatter? Oh, no no no...
Cheshire Cat: Or, you could ask the March Hare, in that direction.
Alice: Oh, thank you. I think I'll see him...
Cheshire Cat: Of course, he's mad, too.
Alice: But I don't want to go among mad people.
Cheshire Cat: Oh, you can't help that. Most everyone's mad here.
[laughs maniacally; starts to disappear]
Cheshire Cat: You may have noticed that I'm not all there myself.

Cheshire Cat: All ways here you see, are the QUEEN'S WAYS!
Alice: But I've never met any queen.
Cheshire Cat: You haven't? You ha-VEN'T? Oh, but you must! She'll be mad about you, simply mad!
[chuckles, then rolls over and almost disappears]
Cheshire Cat: The mome raths outgrabe...
Alice: Please, please! H-How can I find her?
Cheshire Cat: Well, some go this way, and some go that way. But as for me, myself, personally, I prefer the short-cut.

Cheshire Cat: You know? We could make her *really* angry! Shall we try?
Alice: Oh, no, no!
Cheshire Cat: Oh, but it's loads of fun!

Alice: [as a giant] And as for you... Your Majesty! Your Majesty indeed! Why, you're not a queen,
Alice: But just a - a fat, pompous, bad tempered old ty...!
[normal size]
Alice: Tyrant.
Queen of Hearts: [giggles] And uh, just what were you saying, my dear?
Cheshire Cat: Why, she simply said that you're a fat, pompous, bad tempered old tyrant!

Cheshire Cat: [singing] 'Twas brilig, and the slithy toves / Did gyre and gimble in the wabe: / All mimsy were the borogroves, / And the mome raths outgrabe.
Alice: Now where do you suppose...?
Cheshire Cat: Lose something?
Alice: [turns around to find just the Cat's smile talking to her] Oh my! oh, no no, I was just... uh never mind.
Cheshire Cat: Oh, that's quite all right. One moment please.
[two eyes drop down on top of the mouth and the full cat form appears]
Cheshire Cat: Second chorus.
Cheshire Cat: 'Twas brilig, and the slithy toves / Did gyre and gimble in the wabe
Alice: Why, why you're a cat!
Cheshire Cat: A *Cheshire* Cat.
[starts to disappear]
Cheshire Cat: All mimsy were the borogroves...
Alice: Oh wait!
Cheshire Cat: [reappears] There you are! Third chorus...
Alice: Oh, no, no. I was just wondering if you could help me find my way.
Cheshire Cat: Well that depends on where you want to get to.
Alice: Oh, it really doesn't matter, as long as...
Cheshire Cat: Then it really doesn't matter which way you go.

Alice in Wonderland (2010/I)
Cheshire Cat: [suddenly appearing]
[notices the marks on Alice's arm]
Cheshire Cat: It looks like you ran afoul of something with wicked claws.
Alice Kingsley: [to herself] I've never stopped dreaming.
Cheshire Cat: What did that to you?
Alice Kingsley: Bander who... the bander...
Cheshire Cat: The Bandersnatch?
[suddenly appears behind Alice, she turns to face him]
Cheshire Cat: Well, I'd better have a look.
Alice Kingsley: What are you doing?
Cheshire Cat: It needs to be purified by someone with evaporting skills, or it will fester and putrefy.
Alice Kingsley: I'd rather you didn't. I'll be fine as soon as I wake up.
Cheshire Cat: At least let me bind it for you?
[Alice holds out her arm and he wraps the wound with a piece of cloth]
Cheshire Cat: What do you call yourself?
Alice Kingsley: Alice.
Cheshire Cat: *The* Alice?
Alice Kingsley: There's been some debate about that.
Cheshire Cat: I never get involved in politics.

Cheshire Cat: Goodbye, sweet hat.

Cheshire Cat: All this talk of blood and slaying has put me off my tea.

Cheshire Cat: Who are you?
Alice Kingsley: I'm Alice.
Cheshire Cat: *The* Alice?
Alice Kingsley: There's some debate about that.

Cheshire Cat: How's the arm, love?

Alice in Wonderland (1999) (TV)
Alice: I don't want to meet mad people...
Cheshire Cat: But you can't help it. Everyone here is mad. I'm mad. You're mad. It's only by chance n' careful planning if you're not!
Alice: How do you know I'M mad?
Cheshire Cat: [disappearing] Because you're here, and everyone here is mad!

Cheshire Cat: I went to a hunting party once, I didn't like it. Terrible people. They all started hunting me!
Alice: Life must be hard for you.
Cheshire Cat: But I grin and bear it!

Cheshire Cat: How're you enjoying the game?
Alice: They don't play very fair.
Cheshire Cat: No one does if they think they can get away with it. That's a lesson you'll have to learn.

Alice: [playing Flamingo-Hedgehog Croquet] It's pointless, everybody's cheating!
Cheshire Cat: People do, if they think they can get away with it.

Alice Through the Looking Glass (2016)
Cheshire Cat: [from trailer]
Cheshire Cat: When the day becomes the night and the sky becomes the sea, When the clock strikes heavy and there's no time for tea. And in our darkest hour, before my final rhyme, she will come back home to Wonderland and turn back the hands of time.

White Queen: [from trailer] Hatter's counting on you.
Cheshire Cat: We all are.

Mad Hatter: [to Time] Is it true that you heal all wounds?
March Hare: [sits next to Time and elbows him] Time is on my side!
Mad Hatter: Why is it that you wait for no man?
Mallymkun: [covers one eye] I just can't find the time!
[Cheshire appears behind Time]
Mallymkun: Cheshire! Where have you been? You're late.
Cheshire Cat: [lands on Time's shoulders] Actually, I'm right on time.
[Cheshire disappears and Mallymkun, March Hare, and Mad Hatter all laugh]
Mad Hatter: [grabs Time's hand] I have time on my hand!
Time: [losing patience] You silly nitwits really think that I've not heard these cheap jabs before? Your attempts at mockery fall flat.
Mad Hatter: [plays with Time's shoulder pads] Look! Time is flying!
Time: [stands up furiously] Enough! No more wasting me!
Mad Hatter: [nervously] I'm having the time of my life?

Bayard: [after Alice falls from the sky and into a flower bed, her Underland friends surround and greet her] Alice.

March Hare: It's that girl again!
Tweedledee: Alice! You're back!
[the Bandersnatch roars his greeting and pants, smiling at Alice]
Mallymkun: [to the Bandersnatch] Don't be nice to her. She's late.
Alice Kingsleigh: Have I come at a bad time?
White Queen: On the contrary. We were afraid you weren't coming at all.
Alice Kingsleigh: What's the matter?
White Rabbit: The Hatter's the matter.
Tweedledee: Or the matter of the Hatter.
Tweedledum: The former.
Tweedledee: No, the latter.
White Queen: [rolls her eyes] Tweedles.
[gives them a look as if to say, "Get to the point, please."]
Tweedledee: [in unison with Tweedledum] He's mad.
Alice Kingsleigh: The Hatter?
[the Tweedles nod]
Alice Kingsleigh: Yes, I know.
[climbs out of the flower bed and pulls her hair back in a half-up style]
Alice Kingsleigh: That's his muchness. That's what makes him so... him.
Tweedledee: But he's grown darker. Less dafter.
Tweedledum: Denies himself laughter.
Cheshire Cat: [appears in the tree above them] And no scheme of ours can raise any sort of smile. We rather hoped YOU might help us save him.

Alice in Wonderland (1985) (TV)
Cheshire Cat: [in song] Somehow you strayed and lost your way, and now there'll be no time to play, no time for joy, no time for friends - not even time to make amends. You are too naïve if you do believe life is innocent laughter and fun.

[the disembodied head of the Cheshire Cat appears]
Alice: It's the Cheshire Cat! Oh, hello, Cheshire Cat.
Cheshire Cat: Hello. How do you like the Queen?
Alice: Not at all. I don't like that of losing my head. Would you?
Cheshire Cat: I could hardly afford that.

Cheshire Cat: Meow, baby.

Brave Heart Lion: Pickled beats?
Grumpy Bear: [rapping] Uh-huh! / Topping it with pickled beats! Oh, yeah! / Topping it with pickled beats!
Cheshire Cat: Ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho!
Grumpy Bear: Oh, what now?
Cheshire Cat: [rapping] Yo, Grumpy Bear, I gotta hand it to you. / You're talking like my main man! / I love your ton, and it's been fun / working with the Care Bear clan! / You helped Alice, and the princess, and the Queen of Hearts, / and you did right for my man, Stan! / You put the wizard in his place, and now everything's safe. / Everything in Wonderland. / I stopped by to see you cats and bears / and say thanks to you for me. / But I'll say see ya 'round after I chow down / with the Care Bear family. / Have a spread with the Care Bear family. / A few munchies with the Care Bear family. / Uh-huh! Belive in yourself / 'cuz here's the most important part. / While all the others remember to use their heads, / you just remember to use your heart.

Alice: You look... different.
The Cheshire Cat: Everything does, doesn't it? Wonderland has grown stranger. I'm stranger. You're stranger. Together, we are... strangers.
Alice: Well, then, how do you do? Now that we're friends again, you wouldn't want to eat a friend now... would you?
The Cheshire Cat: Mmm, certainly not without pepper.
