Satch DeLeon is the best friend of Frank Sullivan. The running joke is he is a cop and Frank is a fireman and Johnny wants to be a cop when he grows up. 1969 Satch ends up having to arrest 1969 Frank as a suspect in the Nightengale Killings. 1969 Frank convinces Satch to watch the World Series game in order to get him to believe he is telling the truth about speaking with 1999 Johnny. Between Julia noting she has spoken to Franks "friend" John (unawares it is her son in 1999) and specific details 1969 Frank gave him on the Met's game-he realizes that Frank isn't the killer. In 1999, before all the events have changed, Satch is a father figure for 1999 John-it is apparent he remained close to both Julia and Johnny when they lost Frank in 1969. In 1999, he is also John's partner as a homicide detective. Satch is a good man who follows the rules down to the letter, although it is fortunate he is the one who got to arrest 1969 Frank as a suspect-anyone else would have thought he was nuts. At the end of the movie, in 1999, Satch is still around, still close to 1999 Frank and Julia, and John as well. As a character, he is the calm and rational friend to Franks sometimes hot headed, leap before looking personality.
