"Lost: Because You Left (#5.1)" (2009)
Richard Alpert: Next time we see each other, I'm not going to recognize you, alright? You give me this. Alright?
John Locke: What is it?
Richard Alpert: It's a compass.
John Locke: What does it do?
Richard Alpert: It points North, John.

Richard Alpert: The only way to save the island John is to get your people back here.
John Locke: How am I supposed to do that?
Richard Alpert: You're gonna have to die John.

John Locke: [talking about the compass] What is it?
Richard Alpert: A compass.
John Locke: What does it do?
Richard Alpert: [after looking at him strangely] It points north, John.

"Lost: Ab Aeterno (#6.9)" (2010)
Richard Alpert: There were other people here before me?
Jacob: Yes, many.
Richard Alpert: What happened to them?
Jacob: They're all dead.
Richard Alpert: If you brought them here, why didn't you help them?
Jacob: I wanted them to help themselves. To know the difference between right and wrong without me telling them. It's all useless if I have to make them do anything. Why should I have to step in?
Richard Alpert: If you don't he
[referring to the Man in Black]
Richard Alpert: will.
Jacob: [pauses, taken aback] Tell you what, would you like a job?
Richard Alpert: A job? Doing what?
Jacob: If I don't step in, maybe you could. You could be my representative and intermediary to the people I bring to this Island.
Richard Alpert: What would I get in return?
Jacob: You tell me...
Richard Alpert: I want my wife back.
Jacob: I can't do that.
Richard Alpert: Can you absolve me of my sins?
Jacob: I can't do that either.
Richard Alpert: Then I don't want to die... I want to live forever.
Jacob: [smiles, lays a hand on his shoulder] Now that, I can do.

[Hurley has just helped Richard make peace with his long deceased wife]
Hugo 'Hurley' Reyes: She kinda said something else. Something you have to do.
Richard Alpert: What?
Hugo 'Hurley' Reyes: She said you have to stop The Man in Black. You have to stop him from leaving the Island. And she said that if you don't... we'll all go to hell.

"Lost: The Incident: Part 1 (#5.16)" (2009)
Ilana: What lies in the shadow of the statue?
Richard Alpert: "Ille qui nos omnes servabit." He, who is going to save us all.

Richard Alpert: Over 20 years ago, a man named John Locke, he walked right into our camp and he told me that he was going to be our leader. I've gone off the island three times since then to visit him, but he never seemed particularly special to me.

"Lost: Whatever Happened, Happened (#5.11)" (2009)
Richard Alpert: Why are you here?
Kate Austen: Because we need you to save his life. Can you?
Richard Alpert: If I take him, he's not ever gonna be the same again.
Kate Austen: What do you mean by that?
Richard Alpert: What I mean is that he'll forget this ever happened and his innocence will be gone. He will always be one of us. You still want me to take him?
Kate Austen: Yes.

Erik: We shouldn't do this without asking Ellie. If Charles finds out...
Richard Alpert: Let him find out. I don't answer to either of them.

"Lost: LaFleur (#5.8)" (2009)
James 'Sawyer' Ford: Did you bury the bomb?
Richard Alpert: Excuse me?
James 'Sawyer' Ford: The hydrogen bomb with "Jughead" written on the side. Did you bury it?

James 'Sawyer' Ford: Twenty years ago some bald fella crept into your camp, and then he disappeared right in front of you. Does that ring a bell? Do you still think I'm a member of the damn Dharma initiative?
Richard Alpert: No, but my people need some kind of justice.

"Lost: Jughead (#5.3)" (2009)
Richard Alpert: I gave you this?
John Locke: Yes.
Richard Alpert: After you were shot in the leg and I wandered out of the jungle to patch you up?
John Locke: That's right.
Richard Alpert: Then why don't I remember, well, any of this?
John Locke: Because it hasn't happened yet.
Richard Alpert: [laughs] I'm not sure what you're expecting me to say, John Locke.
John Locke: I expect you to tell me how to get off the island.
Richard Alpert: That's very privileged information. Why would I share that with you?
John Locke: Because you told me that I had something very important to do once I get there. And because I'm your leader.
Richard Alpert: You're my leader?
John Locke: That's what you told me.
Richard Alpert: Look, I certainly don't want to contradict myself, but we have a very specific process for selecting our leadership, and it starts at a very, very young age.
John Locke: All right. All right. What year is it right now?
Richard Alpert: It's 1954.
John Locke: All right. May 30, 1956. Two years from now. That's the day I'm born. Tustin, California. And if you don't believe me, I suggest you come and visit me.

Richard Alpert: Who are you?
John Locke: My name is John Locke.
Richard Alpert: Is that supposed to mean something to me?
John Locke: Jacob sent me.
Richard Alpert: [to Widmore] Put the gun down
Young Charles Widmore: What? Richard, you can't seriously trust him.
Richard Alpert: I said put the gun down, Widmore.
John Locke: Your name is Widmore? Charles Widmore?
Young Charles Widmore: What's it to you?
John Locke: [smiles] Nothing. Nice to meet you.

"Lost: One of Us (#3.16)" (2007)
Juliet Burke: [Alpert places a drink, into which he's mixed a powder, next to her] What is that?
Richard Alpert: [nonchalantly] That, is orange juice with a considerable amount of tranquilizer mixed in.
Juliet Burke: [incredulous] You want me to drink it?
Richard Alpert: Oh yes. You'll want to be asleep for the trip Dr Burke.
Ethan Rom: [chuckling] It can be... kind of intense.
Juliet Burke: O-kay. I was fine with signing all of your paperwork! Fine with not being able to talk with anyone in my life for six months! Fine with the fact that no on in the medical community has heard of Mittelos Bioscience...
Richard Alpert: Why were you fine?
Juliet Burke: What?
Richard Alpert: Why were you fine with those thing? It seems like quite a leap for a job opportunity. I mean we're not paying you that much. I think you're fine because... deep down inside a part of you knows that the place we're taking you to is special.
Juliet Burke: [hesitant] Special?
Juliet Burke: Let me ask you something Juliet. You took a woman, your own sister, who's reproductive system was ravaged by chemotherapy. Who was sterile. And you made her pregnant. You created life where life was not supposed to be. That's a gift. You have a gift Juliet. Now don't you feel you're meant to do something significant with your life? Where we're going you can do just that.
Juliet Burke: Where exactly are we going?
Richard Alpert: I can't tell you that. What I can tell you is that you'll see things there that you've never imagined. Now, no one's forcing you to do anything. So if you change your mind we're happy to take you back to the...
[Juliet grabs the glass and downs it in one big gulp]
Ethan Rom: Um... You probably shouldn't have drunk that so fast!
[Juliet passes out]

Juliet Burke: [at the airport Juliet watches as Richard pours a glass of orange juice and crushes some pills into it which he then hands her] What is that?
Richard Alpert: That, is orange juice, with a considerable amount of tranquilizer mixed in.
Juliet Burke: [incredulous] You want me to drink it?
Richard Alpert: Oh yes, you'll want to be asleep for the trip Dr Burke.
Ethan Rom: It can be
[chuckles]
Ethan Rom: kind of intense.
Juliet Burke: OK, I was fine with signing all over your paperwork. Fine with agreeing to not talk to anyone in my life for six months. Fine with the fact that no-one in the medical community has ever heard of Mittelos Bioscience.
Richard Alpert: Why were you fine?
Juliet Burke: What?
Richard Alpert: Why were you fine with those things? It seems like quite a leap for a job opportunity. I mean we're not paying you that much. I think you're fine because deep down a part of you knows that the place we're taking you to is special.
Juliet Burke: Special?
Richard Alpert: Let me ask you, Juliet. You took a woman. Your own sister. Whose reproductive system was ravaged by chemotherapy. Who was sterile. And you made her pregnant. Where we're going, you can do just that.
Juliet Burke: Where exactly are we...
Richard Alpert: [insistent] I can't tell you that. But what I can tell you is that, you'll see things there that you never imagined. Now, no-one is forcing you to do anything, so if you change your mind we're happy to take you back to...
[Juliet grabs the glass and downs it in one gulp]
Ethan Rom: [apprehensive] Um... You probably shouldn't have drunk that so fast.

"Lost: Through the Looking Glass (#3.22)" (2007)
Richard Alpert: We're going to the radio tower?
Ben Linus: Not we, Richard, me. You're going to take everyone to the temple as planned.
Richard Alpert: Now might not be the best time to go tromping off on your own.
Ben Linus: Oh really, and why not?
Richard Alpert: Because people are asking questions, Ben. About leaving home, about what happened to Locke, about Jacob. Not to mention the rapidly spreading rumour that everyone that went down to the beach is dead.
Ben Linus: They're not all dead.

"Lost: Dead Is Dead (#5.12)" (2009)
[first lines]
Charles Widmore: What have you done, Richard?
Richard Alpert: Calm down. This has nothing to do with you.

"Lost: The End (#6.17)" (2010)
Miles Straume: Looks like you got your first gray hair. What are you smiling about?
Richard Alpert: I think I just realized that I want to live.
Miles Straume: It's good timing.

"Lost: LA X - Part 1 (#6.1)" (2010)
[Ben tells Richard that Locke wants to speak to him]
Richard Alpert: Well, I'm happy to talk to John. But before I do, maybe you should talk to him first.
[Richard throws Ben down on the sand next to where the body of John Locke lays half-dumped out of the cargo container]

"Lost: There's No Place Like Home: Part 2 (#4.13)" (2008)
Ben Linus: What was the arrangement?
Richard Alpert: They help us free you, and we let them off the island.

Kate Austen: So we can go? Off the island? That's it?
Ben Linus: That's it.

"Lost: Cabin Fever (#4.11)" (2008)
Richard Alpert: [to John Locke, Age 5] Did you draw that, John?
