"Lost: Walkabout (#1.4)" (2004)
Jack: [to Kate] Tell me something. How come any time there's a hike into the heart of darkness, you sign up?

Jack: Rose, you shouldn't be out here alone. You're suffering from post-traumatic shock.
Rose: Aren't we all?
Jack: [chuckles] Yeah, I guess we are.

Jack: [after Locke threw a knife into a seat, narrowly missing Sawyer] You either have very good aim or...
[looks back at knife and Sawyer]
Jack: ...very bad aim.

Kate: What is it?
Claire: Somebody's in there.
Sayid: Everyone in there's dead.
Jack: Sawyer.
Sawyer: Right behind ya, jackass

Jack: We don't have time to sort out everybody's God.
Charlie: Really? Last I heard we're positively made of time.

Rose: My husband is not dead.
Jack: Rose, he was in the tail section of the plane. It broke off in mid-flight. I'm sorry, but everyone who was in the rear of the plane is gone.
Rose: They're probably thinking the same thing about us.

Jack: Everyone who was in the rear of the plane is dead.
Rose: They're probably thinking the same thing about us.

"Lost: Through the Looking Glass (#3.22)" (2007)
[last lines]
Jack Shephard: Every Friday night I, I fly from LA to Tokyo or, Singapore, Sydney. And then I, I get off and I, have a drink, and then I fly home.
Kate Austen: Why?
Jack Shephard: Because I wanted to crash, Kate. I don't care about anybody else on board. Every little bump we hit or turbulence, I mean I, I actually close my eyes and I pray that I can get back.
[Kate looks near tears, as does Jack]
Kate Austen: This is not gonna change.
Jack Shephard: No, I'm sick of lying. We made a mistake.
Kate Austen: I have to go. He's gonna be wondering where I am...
Jack Shephard: We were not supposed to leave.
Kate Austen: Yes, we were.
Kate Austen: Goodbye Jack.
Jack Shephard: We have to go back, Kate.
[Kate turns and walks away]
Jack Shephard: We have to go back!

Kate Austen: What happened?
Jack Shephard: He killed them. Bernard, Jin, Sayid, all three of them. He radioed the beach and I let it happen - I had to let it happen. We can't tell Rose or Sun, not yet. We've got to keep moving. I promised Sayid we'd keep moving.
Kate Austen: Why did you bring him back? Why didn't you just kill him?
Jack Shephard: Because I want him to see it. I want him to experience the moment we get off this island and I want him to know that he failed. And then I'll kill him.

Kate Austen: It's gonna work! It's happening, we're gonna get off of this island!
Jack Shephard: We'll celebrate when we're home.

Ben Linus: Jack! I know you think you're saving your people. But you need to stop this. It's a mistake.
Jack Shephard: The mistake was listening to you.
Ben Linus: This'll be your last chance, Jack. I'm telling you, making that call is the beginning of the end.
Naomi Dorrit: I've got it, I've got a signal!
Ben Linus: Jack please, you don't know what you're doing!
Jack Shephard: I know exactly what I'm doing.

Naomi Dorrit: Jack, can I ask you a question?
Jack Shephard: Sure.
Naomi Dorrit: What did you do for a living before you became Moses?

Jack Shephard: Don't do anything stupid.
Juliet Burke: I won't if you won't.

Jack Shephard: We have to go back!

"Lost: Pilot: Part 1 (#1.1)" (2004)
Jack: You can do this, I'm telling you... If you don't mind.

Kate: So what does a transceiver look like?
Jack: A complicated walkie-talkie.

Jack: [after the wing exploded and Claire, Jack and Hurley are thrown to the ground; to Claire] You okay?
Claire Littleton: Yeah, yeah... Yeah.
Jack: [to Hurley] You?
Jack: [Hurley nods in reply] Stay with her.
Hugo "Hurley" Reyes: Dude, I'm not going anywhere.

Jack: Jack.
Kate: I'm Kate.

Jack Shephard: So I just made a choice. I would let the fear in let it take over let it do its thing. But only for five seconds. That's all I was going to give it.

[stitching Jack up]
Kate: You don't seem afraid at all. I don't understand that.
Jack: Well, fear's sort of an odd thing.

Jack: I took a couple of flying lessons. Wasn't for me.

"Lost: 316 (#5.6)" (2009)
Jack Shephard: How can you read?
Ben Linus: My mother taught me. I can read, Jack, because it beats what you're doing.
Jack Shephard: What's that?
Ben Linus: Waiting for something to happen.
Jack Shephard: And what *is* gonna happen?
Ben Linus: You tell me, Jack. You're the one that got to stay after school with Ms. Hawking.

Jack Shephard: This is ridiculous.
Eloise Hawking: Oh, stop thinking how ridiculous it is, and start asking yourself, whether or not, you believe it's going to work. That's why it is called "leap of faith", Jack.

Ben Linus: Thomas the Apostle. When Jesus wanted to return to Judea, knowing that he would probably be murdered there, Thomas said to the others, "Let us also go there and we might die with him." But Thomas was not remembered for this bravery. His claim to fame came later when he refuses to acknowledge the resurrection. He just couldn't wrap his mind around it. The story goes that he needed to touch Jesus wounds to be convinced.
Jack Shephard: So was he?
Ben Linus: Of course he was. We are all convinced sooner or later, Jack.

Jack Shephard: It's pretty crazy, huh?
Kate Austen: Which part?
Jack Shephard: Hurley, Sayid, Ben... on the same plane. How did they end up here?
Kate Austen: They bought a ticket.
Jack Shephard: You don't think it means something that somehow we're all packed together?
Kate Austen: We are on the same plane, Jack, doesn't make us together.

Jack Shephard: And the other people on this plane, what's gonna happen to them?
Ben Linus: Who cares?

Jack Shephard: [to Eloise about Ben] Is he telling the truth?
Eloise Hawking: [Chuckling] Probably not.

"Lost: The Economist (#4.3)" (2008)
Kate Austen: Kind of stinks, huh?
Jack Shephard: What that?
Kate Austen: Being told not to come along. Now you know what it's like to be me.
Jack Shephard: Does that mean I should wait 20 minutes and go anyway?
Kate Austen: Touche.

Frank Lapidus: This guy Sayid, where's he from?
Jack Shephard: Iraq.
Frank Lapidus: Iraq? So he is just going to go and work everything out. What was he, a diplomat?
Jack Shephard: No. He was a torturer.

Jack Shephard: You should go with them, Kate.
Kate Austen: Are you serious?
Jack Shephard: Yeah.
Kate Austen: What, don't you trust Sayid?
Jack Shephard: I don't trust Locke.
Kate Austen: So what's preventing him from doing to me what he did to Naomi?
Jack Shephard: Sawyer won't let him.

Sayid Jarrah: You're not the best candidate for this kind of mission.
Jack Shephard: What kind of mission is that?
Sayid Jarrah: I'm going to make Locke give me Charlotte. And I'm going to do it without any bloodshed.
Jack Shephard: As opposed to the way I'd do it.
Sayid Jarrah: Last time you encountered him, you put a gun to his head and pulled the trigger. That's not good diplomacy.

Jack Shephard: Did the Red Socks really win the series.
Frank Lapidus: Hey. Don't get me started on that. Alright. My dad was from the Bronx. I bleed Yankee blue.

Jack Shephard: What's his story?
Frank Lapidus: Daniel?
Jack Shephard: Yeah.
Frank Lapidus: Couldn't tell ya. Half the stuff he says goes way over my head, the other half goes way, way over.

"Lost: Do No Harm (#1.20)" (2005)
Jack: [needs blood for transfusion for Boone, but Charlie only found out four] You only asked four people?
Charlie: I asked everyone. No one knows their blood type! *I* don't know my bloody blood type!

Boone: I'm all messed up inside... you know it.
Jack: This is our best chance.
Boone: There is no chance... really. I mean, look where we are.
Jack: I'm not going to let you give up
Boone: I know you made a promise, but I?m letting you off the hook. Let me go, Jack

Jack: [Jack's vows] I didn't... write any vows, I've been trying to for a month but I couldn't so I started to wonder why that was and as time went on it only got worse went on because I'm not good at letting go or maybe im afraid of what'll happen if I fail, but I know one thing. I would have never been able to write anything as beautiful as what you just said and last night Sarah, when you were talking about the accident, you got it all wrong. I didnt fix you, you fixed me. I love you Sarah and I always will.

Jack: We're a bit beyond herbal remedies, here.
Sun Kwon: It's not a remedy
[Sun puts a stick in Boone's mouth]

Jack: Veins are like a wet noodle. First you have to find one. Then you have to pierce it with a hollow needle. I have bamboo!

"Lost: A Tale of Two Cities (#3.1)" (2006)
Jack: So, what else do you do besides making sandwiches?
Juliet: I didn't make it. I just put the toothpicks in.

Jack: Where are my friends? Tell me where my friends are!
Juliet: Come down from the table first.

Jack: [to Juliet] Which way out?

Jack: [in the Hydra tank] This thing's for what? Sharks?
Juliet: Dolphins too.
Jack: We're underwater, aren't we?
Juliet: Yes.
Jack: Is this one of their stations? The Dharma Initiative?
Juliet: They called it The Hydra.

Jack: What is that?
Juliet: This, Jack, is your life.

"Lost: Deus Ex Machina (#1.19)" (2005)
Jack: [Sawyer has been complaining about headaches; Jack is having a little fun with him while conducting an eye exam] Have you ever had sex with a prostitute?
Sawyer: What the hell's that got to do with anything?
Jack: Is that a yes?
Sawyer: [begrudgingly] Yes.
Jack: Have you ever contracted a sexually transmitted disease?
Jack: [Sawyer glares at him] I'll take that as another "yes". When was the last outbreak?
Sawyer: Go to hell, Doc.
Kate: [Sawyer leaves] I know he deserved it, but...
Jack: He needs glasses.

Jack: Picking up on a little Korean there, Michael?
Michael: Yeah. Yeah, I'm pretty sure I know how to say, uh, "faster" and "idiot".

Sawyer: My uncle. He, uh, died of a brain tumor.
Jack: Yeah?
Jack: That run in the family? Tumors?
Jack: What type of tumor was it?
Sawyer: The type that kills ya.

Jack: [about Sawyer] Look, Kate, I'd love nothing more than to check the guy out, and make sure he's okay, but we both know all I'm going to get for my trouble is a snappy one-liner... and if I'm real lucky, a brand new nickname.

Jack Shephard: I'd love nothing more than to check the guy out and make sure he's okay, but we both know all I'm gonna get for my trouble is a snappy one-liner. And if I'm real lucky a brand-new nickname.

"Lost: Man of Science, Man of Faith (#2.1)" (2005)
[Jack's explaining his "excuse" for his tour de stade after injuring his ankle]
Jack: Just trying to work a few things out.
Desmond: Ah, a girl, right?
Jack: A patient.
Desmond: Ah, but a girl patient. What's her name?
Jack: Her name's Sarah.
Desmond: What'd you do to her, then?
Jack: Do to her?
Desmond: You must have done something worthy of this self-flagellation.
Jack: I told her... I made her a promise I couldn't keep... I told her I'd fix her and I couldn't. I failed.
Desmond: Right. Just one thing - what if you did fix her?
Jack: I didn't.
Desmond: But what if you did?
Jack: You don't know what you're talking about, man.
Desmond: I don't? Why not?
Jack: Because with her situation that would be a miracle, "brother."
Desmond: Oh, and you don't believe in miracles?
[Jack laughs and shakes his head]
Desmond: Right. Well then, I'm going to give you some advice anyway. You have to lift it up.
Jack: Lift it up?
Desmond: Your ankle. You have to keep it elevated. It's been nice chatting.
Jack: Jack.
Desmond: Jack, I'm Desmond. Good luck, brother. See you in another life, yeah?

Charlie Pace: Where's Dr. Arzt?
Dr. Jack Shephard: He, uh, didn't make it.

Hurley: You should go ahead man, you don't want Locke making time with your girl
Hurley: joke, dude.
Jack: I'm not really in the mood, Hurley
Hurley: Really? Wow, usually you're like Mr. Haha
Jack: [laughs]
Hurley: There you go! Life's not so bad right? I mean sure the others are coming like to eat us all and every once in a while someone blows up all over you but you do get to sleep in every morning...

Jack: I'm intense.

Hurley: A while ago, I was in this kind of psych ward and there was this guy, Leonard. All the time I knew him,all he ever said were these numbers. "4, 8, 15, 16, 23, 42". Over and over and over again. And they kind of got stuck in my head. So when I got out... well, actually a couple months after I got out, I was buying a frozen burrito and thought "I should play the lottery", and I guess those numbers were stuck in my head, so I played them. And I won... $114 million. That's when it started happening. My grandpa died, my house caught on fire, the chicken joint that I worked at got hit by a meteor... Well, actually, a meteorite. OK, so, tonight, I see the same freaking numbers on that hatch thing. Just written on the side. And that's why I tried to stop it, because that thing is cursed, man.
Jack: You were in a psych ward?

"Lost: Lockdown (#2.17)" (2006)
Sawyer: So, where'd you learn to play cards, Doc?
Jack: Phuket.
Sawyer: What the hell were you doing in Thailand? What? You don't think I know where Phuket is? Just because I dropped out in ninth grade, don't make me an idiot.

Sawyer: Okay, I'll call you with the aspirin and raise you with a bottle of Amoxicilin.
Jack: Do you even know what Amoxicilin is?
Sawyer: You may have been to Phuket, Doc, but I've been to Tallahassee... Let's just say something was burning and it wasn't from the sunshine.

Jack: Saywer, you're busted, I got it all, and it wouldn't be fair for you to go and pick more mangos.
Sawyer: Oh, I've got a hell a lot more than mangoes. You want to play for real stakes, name 'em?
Jack: It's a pile of fruit, man.
Sawyer: And I want it back.
Kate: Should I go and get a ruler?

[Talking about the poker stakes they had played earlier]
James "Sawyer" Ford: Hey, when I asked you what you wanted for stakes, why didn't you ask for the guns?
Dr. Jack Shephard: When I need the guns, I'll get the guns.

"Lost: Three Minutes (#2.22)" (2006)
Sayid Jarrah: Is it true? Henry's escaped?
Dr. Jack Shephard: Yeah.
Sayid Jarrah: Who's going after him?
Dr. Jack Shephard: Locke and Eko went out in the middle of the night.
James "Sawyer" Ford: But we ain't seen either of them since.
Sayid Jarrah: Those are the guns, aren't they? What are you doing with them?
James "Sawyer" Ford: What do you think we're doing? It's time to finish this.
Sayid Jarrah: When do we leave?
James "Sawyer" Ford: In the morning.
Dr. Jack Shephard: You're not coming, Sayid.
Sayid Jarrah: Excuse me?
Dr. Jack Shephard: Michael wants to keep it small. Me, Kate, Hurley, and him.
James "Sawyer" Ford: Yeah, well "Him" says even though Pippi Longstockings and the damn Grape Ape are ideal candidates for the Dirty Dozen, I'm just gonna say we might wanna bring along the Red Beret!

Dr. Jack Shephard: You were supposed to come right back. You were out in the jungle all night. What happened?
Mr. Eko: We were unable to find Henry's trail.
Dr. Jack Shephard: Yeah, I got that.

James "Sawyer" Ford: Who's gonna talk?
Dr. Jack Shephard: What?
James "Sawyer" Ford: At the funeral. Who's gonna talk?
Dr. Jack Shephard: I'm sure Hurley'll wanna say something about Libby.
James "Sawyer" Ford: I never even knew her last name. Ana-Lucia.
Dr. Jack Shephard: It's Cortez.
James "Sawyer" Ford: Cortez. Well there you go.
[silent pause]
James "Sawyer" Ford: I screwed her.
Dr. Jack Shephard: What?
James "Sawyer" Ford: That's how she got my gun. Ana, she jumped me. We "got caught in a net."
Dr. Jack Shephard: Why're you telling me this, Sawyer?
James "Sawyer" Ford: Cause you're about the closest thing I've got to a friend, Doc. And cause she's gone. Well at least now we get to kill somebody.

James "Sawyer" Ford: So what happened out there in the jungle?
Dr. Jack Shephard: Exactly what he said happened, he found their camp...
James "Sawyer" Ford: I ain't talking about Mike. You and Freckles. Before you found him, y'all were gone all night.
Dr. Jack Shephard: We were caught in a net.
James "Sawyer" Ford: What's the hell that supposed to mean?
Dr. Jack Shephard: It means we got caught in a net.
James "Sawyer" Ford: Is that what they're calling it these days?

"Lost: What Kate Does (#6.3)" (2010)
[Dogen chuckles]
Jack Shephard: Did I say something funny?
Lennon: I doubt it. He doesn't really have a sense of humor.

Jack Shephard: Mind giving me and Sayid a minute?
Hugo 'Hurley' Reyes: Yeah, see, private talks kinda freak me out 'cause they lead me to having to do something I don't quite understand.

Jack Shephard: And you know, before when you... when you thanked me for saving your life, I, I didn't have anything to do with it Sayid. I didn't fix you. They did.
Sayid Jarrah: I don't care who fixed me. I only care about who I trust.

Jack Shephard: You speak pretty good English for someone who needs a translator.
Dogen: We both know that I don't need a translator.
Jack Shephard: Then why do you have one?
Dogen: Because I have to remain separate from the people I'm in charge of. It makes it easier when they don't like the decisions I make for them.

"Lost: Tabula Rasa (#1.3)" (2004)
Jack: It doesn't matter, Kate, who we were, what we did before this... before the crash. It doesn't really... Three days ago, we all died. We should all be able to start over.

Hurley: Was it a dinosaur?
Jack: It wasn't a dinosaur.
Hurley: You say you didn't see it.
Jack: I didn't.
Hurley: So how do you know it wasn't a dinosaur?
Jack: Because dinosaurs are extinct.
Hurley: Oh, yeah.

Sawyer: You're just not looking at the big picture, Doc. You're still back in civilization.
Jack: Yeah? And where are you?
Sawyer: Me? I'm in the wild.

[after a gunshot is heard in the marshal's tent, Sawyer comes out and tells Jack that the marshal, dying in agony, asks Sawyer to kill him. Seconds later, the marshall is heard choking]
Jack: You shot him in the chest?
Sawyer: I was aiming for his heart.
Jack: You missed.

"Lost: The End (#6.17)" (2010)
Jack Shephard: Desmond, you've done enough. You wanna do something? Go home and be with your wife and son.
Desmond Hume: How about *you*, Jack?
Jack Shephard: I'll see you in another life, brother.

Jack Shephard: Are you real?
Christian Shephard: I sure hope so. Yeah, I'm real. You're real. Everything that's happened to you is real. All those people in the church, they're all real too.
Jack Shephard: No. They're all... They're all dead. I'm dead. You're dead.
Christian Shephard: Everyone dies sometime, kiddo. Some of them before you, some... long after you.
Jack Shephard: But why are they all here now?
Christian Shephard: Well, there is no "now", here.
Jack Shephard: Where are we, Dad?
Christian Shephard: This is a place that you... that you all made together so that you could find one another. The most important part of your life was the time that you spent with these people on that island. That's why all of you are here. Nobody does it alone, Jack. You needed all of them, and they needed you.
Jack Shephard: For what?
Christian Shephard: To remember. And to... let go.
Jack Shephard: Kate... She said we were leaving.
Christian Shephard: Not leaving. No. Moving on.
Jack Shephard: Where are we going?
Christian Shephard: Let's go find out.

Kate Austen: I love you.
Jack Shephard: I love you.

Jack Shephard: You're not John Locke. You disrespect his memory by wearing his face, but you're nothing like him. Turns out he was right about most everything. I just wish I could have told him that while he was still alive.

"Lost: The Long Con (#2.13)" (2006)
[the counter is winding down]
Jack: What are you doing here?
Sawyer: One second. I'm like this close to the high score on Donkey Kong.
[Sawyer types in the numbers]
Sawyer: Now, what can I do you for?
Jack: Where's Locke?
Sawyer: I don't know. I think he said something about going to the store for a pack of smokes.
[Jack checks the vault and finds it empty]
Sawyer: Uh oh. Looks like we got ourselves a theft. Who's gonna call the cops?
Jack: Where are they?
Sawyer: Don't look at me. I was just pushing the button.

Kate: Jack, how well do you know Ana-Lucia?
[He looks at her and then looks away]
Kate: It's just... The Others... I was out there with you, heard that man say that if we stayed away they'd leave us alone. And we've left them alone, so why would they attack us a few days later?
Jack: If it wasn't them, then who was it?
Kate: Like I said, how well do you know Ana-Lucia?

Jack: You gave him the guns?
Locke: No. I hid them.
Sawyer: That's right, Jack. He's as stupid as you are. You were so busy worrying about each other, you never even saw me coming, did you?

[about the heroin Locke took from Charlie]
Jack: Just gonna leave it all in the statues?
Locke: You want to break seven Virgin Marys, be my guest. I'm superstitious.

"Lost: Hearts and Minds (#1.13)" (2005)
Jack: [finding Kate in the wilderness looking for food] Please tell me you found a coffee bar.

Jack: [seeing Hurley collecting leaves] You're not going to eat those are you?
Hurley: Dude, these are *not* for eating.

Jack: Put out your hand... Trust me you'll like it.
Kate: Gross little greyish yellow thingys?
Jack: Oh no, no, no, no. These are slimy little blueish black thingys.

Jack: How're you doing?
Charlie: How am I doing with week two of heroin withdrawal? Or how am I doing with Claire being abducted by the freak who tried to kill me?
Jack: I gave you aspirin for the heroin withdrawal.

"Lost: LA X - Part 1 (#6.1)" (2010)
John Locke: What did you lose?
Jack Shephard: Excuse me?
John Locke: Well they lost one of my bags. What about you?

Cindy Chandler: Don't tell anyone.
Jack Shephard: It'll be our secret.

Jack Shephard: Excuse me.
Desmond Harrington: I'm sorry mate, is this your seat? The stewardess said it was empty.
Jack Shephard: No, no. I'm at the window.
Desmond Harrington: Oh right.

Charlie Pace: Am I alive?
Jack Shephard: Yeah, you're alive.
Charlie Pace: Terrific.

"Lost: There's No Place Like Home: Part 2 (#4.13)" (2008)
Jack Shephard: He told me... that after I left the island, some very bad things happened. And he told me that it was my fault for leaving. And he said that I had to come back.
Ben Linus: Yes, I heard that you've been flying on passenger planes. Hoping that you'd crash. It's dark, Jack, very dark.
Jack Shephard: Why are you here?
Ben Linus: I'm here to tell you that the island won't let you come alone. All of you have to go back.

Jack Shephard: We're gonna have to lie.
Sayid Jarrah: Lie about what?
Jack Shephard: Everything. All of it. Every moment since we crashed on the island.
Frank Lapidus: Jack, now I know I'm new to this group and everything but isn't this the place where everybody starts jumping up and down and hugging each other?

Frank Lapidus: Where's the island? Where's the island? Where the hell's the island?
Hugo 'Hurley' Reyes: It's gone.
Frank Lapidus: Where the hell am I gonna land this thing?
Jack Shephard: There's another smaller island close by they took us to.
Frank Lapidus: I got news for you, doc. There's nothing but water in every direction.

John Locke: I would like you to stay.
Jack Shephard: You'd like me to stay?
John Locke: Yeah. That's right.
Jack Shephard: You threw a knife into the back of an unarmed woman. You led half of our people across the island and got most of them killed.
John Locke: Well Jack, you put a gun to my head and you pulled the trigger. I was hoping we could let bygones be bygones.

"Lost: Homecoming (#1.15)" (2005)
Locke: Jack, I'm not a cold man. I feel for the loss of one of our own, but nothing fundamental's changed. Wherever he is, wherever he comes from, we're on Ethan's turf. He has the advantage. To him we're nothing more than a bunch of scared idiots with sharp sticks.
Jack: What if I told you I had a way to get the advantage back?
Locke: Then I would ask - what way might that be, Jack?

Jack: Sawyer, you know how to use a gun?
Sawyer: I know at least one polar bear who seems to think so.

Jack: We tracked Ethan once! We can do it again!
[Charlie nods]
Locke: You *both* seem to forget how that went.
[looks at Jack]
Locke: He bested you physically.
[looks at Charlie]
Locke: And he hung you from a tree!

"Lost: The Glass Ballerina (#3.2)" (2006)
Benry: ...Boston Red Sox won the World Series.
Jack: [laughs a lot] If you wanted me to believe this you probably should have picked somebody else, besides the Red Sox.

Henry Gale: Your flight crashed on September 22, 2004. Today is November 29th. That means that you have been on our island for sixty-nine days. And yes we do have contact with the outside world Jack. That's how we know that during those sixty-nine days, your fellow Americans reelected George W. Bush, Christopher Reeve has passed away, Boston Red Sox won the World Series. What?
Dr. Jack Shephard: [laughing] If you wanted me to believe that, you probably should have picked somebody else besides the Red Sox.
Henry Gale: No, they were down three games to none against the Yankees in the League Championship and then they won eight straight.
Dr. Jack Shephard: Sure. Sure. Of course they did.
Television: [TV plays Joe Buck] back to Foulke... Red Sox Fans have longed to hear it! The Boston Red Sox are world champions! A clean sweep of the St. Louis Cardinals and the Red Sox celebrate in the middle of the diamond here at Busch Stadium.

Henry Gale: Hello, Jack.
[he sits on a small chair he brought in]
Henry Gale: You know what's crazy, Jack? A week ago, you and I were in exactly the opposite situation. I was the one locked up and you were the one coming in for visits. And I know that you were angry that I lied to you about who I was; but, hell, do you blame me? I mean, let's face it, if I had told you I was one of those people that you and your friends have been calling Others all this time it would have been right back to Sayid and his - fists. Wouldn't it?
Jack: What do you want from me?
Henry Gale: I want for you to change your at - perspective. And, the first step in doing that would be for me to be decent enough to introduce myself honestly, so -
[he crouches down beside Jack and extends his hand to shake]
Henry Gale: Hi, my name is Benjamin Linus and I've lived on this island all my life.
Henry Gale: You're not going to shake?

"Lost: Orientation (#2.3)" (2005)
Jack: Are you in contact with the people that made it... the film? Are you in contact with anyone?
Desmond: [trying to fix his computer] Do you think I'd be here if I was?
Jack: How is it that you didn't know about the crash? About us?
Desmond: I push this button every 108 minutes. I don't get out much.
Jack: So, these replacements?
Desmond: Kelvin died waiting for his replacements.
Jack: So you don't get out, you don't see anyone. Where does your food come from? You really think this is happening.
Desmond: Why wouldn't it be?
Jack: It says quarantine on the inside of the hatch to keep you down here. To keep you scared. But you know what? We've been up there for over 40 days and no one's gotten sick. You think that this is the only part of it that's true? Do you ever think that maybe they put you down here to push a button every 100 minutes just to see if you would? That all of this, the computer, the button, it's just a mind game? An experiment?
Desmond: Every... single... day. And for all our sakes, I hope it's not real. But the film says this is an electromagnetic station. And I don't know about you, brother, but every time I walk past that concrete wall out there, my fillings hurt.

Locke: [trying to convince Jack to push the button in the hatch] You saw the film, Jack. This is a... this is a two person job, at least.
Sayid: This argument is irrelevant.
[goes to push the button]
Jack: Sayid, don't.
Sayid: Jack.
Jack: Don't. It's not real. Look, you want to push the button, you do it yourself.
Locke: If it's not real, then what are you doing here, Jack? Why did you come back? Why do you find it so hard to believe?
Jack: Why do you find it so easy?
Locke: It's never been easy!
Kate: Maybe you should just do it.
Jack: No...
[less convinced]
Jack: It's a button.
Locke: [pleading] I can't do this alone, Jack... I don't want to.
[echoing the word of his former girlfriend]
Locke: It's a leap of faith, Jack.

Desmond: Listen! If you do not let me up, we are going to die.
Jack: Stop moving, or, I swear to God...
Desmond: Look at the wall! You see that? That's a timer and it's counting down. I've got to enter the code, got to push the button.
Jack: Or what?
John Locke: Jack, let him up.
Jack: Don't tell me what to do. Or what? What's going to happen?
Desmond: Do I know you?

"Lost: The Little Prince (#5.4)" (2009)
[first lines]
Jack Shephard: Hey.
Kate Austen: Oh, you don't have to whisper. When he's out, he's out.

Jack Shephard: [on the phone] Hurley, where are you?
Hugo 'Hurley' Reyes: [on the phone] Dude, I'm totally cool. I'm in L.A. County Lock Up. Oh, and tell Sayid I did exactly what he said. I'm totally safe. Ben's never gonna get me now.

Jack Shephard: Kate, if we're going to be safe, if we're going to protect the people that we left behind, tomorrow morning I'm going to have to convince everyone to lie. If it's just me they're never going to go for it. So I'm going to turn to you first. Are you with me?
Kate Austen: I have always been with you.

"Lost: Confidence Man (#1.8)" (2004)
Jack: Get up!
Sawyer: Why? You wanna see who's taller?

Jack: [when Sawyer wouldn't give them Shannon's medicine] I'm gonna kill him!
Kate: That's not going to help us get the medicine.
Jack: Maybe not, but it'll feel good.

Jack: We're not savages, Kate. Not yet.

"Lost: Whatever Happened, Happened (#5.11)" (2009)
Jack Shephard: No, I'm not coming with you.
James 'Sawyer' Ford: If you don't come with me, Jack, that kid's gonna die.
Jack Shephard: Then he dies.

Juliet Burke: It's up to Sawyer and Kate now.
Jack Shephard: What?
Juliet Burke: She's trying to save him, and I sent James after her to help because they actually care.
Jack Shephard: I came back here because I care, Juliet. I came back here because I was trying to save you.
Juliet Burke: We didn't need saving! We've been fine for three years. You came back here for you... At least do me the courtesy of telling me why.
Jack Shephard: I came back because I was supposed to.

Juliet Burke: I needed you.
Jack Shephard: I'm sorry?
Juliet Burke: That kid was bleeding out. You're a surgeon, and I needed you.
Jack Shephard: That kid is Ben.
Juliet Burke: It's not Ben yet. He's just a kid.

"Lost: Exodus: Part 2 (Part I) (#1.24)" (2005)
Locke: [explaining why he wanted to let the island monster drag him off] I believe that I was being tested.
Jack: Tested?
Locke: Yeah, tested. I think... that's why you and I don't see eye-to-eye sometimes, Jack because you're a man of science.
Jack: Yeah, and what does that make you?
Locke: Me, well, I'm a man of faith. Do you really think all this... is an accident? That we, a group of strangers survived, many of us with just superficial injuries? Do you think we crashed on this place by coincidence, especially this place? We were brought here for a purpose, for a reason, all of us. Each one of us was brought here for a reason.
Jack: Brought here? And who brought us here, John?
Locke: The island. The island brought us here. This is no ordinary place, you've seen that, I know you have. But the island chose you, too, Jack. It's destiny.
Jack: Did you talk with Boone about destiny, John?
Locke: Boone was a sacrifice that the island demanded. What happened to him at that plane was a part of a chain of events that led us here that led us down a path, that led you and me to this day, to right now.
Jack: And where does that path end, John?
Locke: The path ends at the hatch. The hatch, Jack all of it. All of it happened so that we could open the hatch.
Jack: No, no, we're opening the hatch so that we can survive.
Locke: Survival is all relative, Jack.
Jack: I don't believe in destiny.
Locke: [pause] Yes, you do. You just don't know it yet.

Jack: Everybody wants me to be a leader until I make a decision that they don't like.

Jack: If anyone hears, or see's anything...
Hurley: Like the security system that eats people.
Jack: Yes, like that.

"Lost: Confirmed Dead (#4.2)" (2008)
Miles: How stupid do you think I am?
Jack Shephard: I don't know, Miles. How stupid are you?

Daniel Faraday: Rescuing you and your people... I can't really say is our primary objective.
Jack Shephard: Then what is?

Jack Shephard: Why don't you put the guns down?
Miles Straume: And why would I do that?
Jack Shephard: Because our friends are out in the jungle with a gun pointed at your head, and his head!
Miles Straume: How stupid do you think I am?
[shots ring out and Juliet and Sayid emerge from the jungle with guns drawn]
Jack Shephard: I don't know Miles, how stupid are you?

"Lost: The Hunting Party (#2.11)" (2006)
Jack: Hey. What are you doing?
Sawyer: What does it look like? I'm coming with you.
Jack: You're still on antibiotics.
Sawyer: It's a good thing I'm traveling with my doctor then.

Tom Friendly: How long you been here on the island?
Jack: Fifty days.
Tom Friendly: Ooh, fifty day? That's, what, almost two whole months. Tell me, you go over a man's house for the first time, do you take off your shoes, d'you put your feet up on his coffee table, d'you walk in the kitchen, eat food that doesn't belong to you, open the door to rooms you got no business opening? You know, somebody a whole lot smarter than anybody here once said, "Since the dawn of our species, man has been blessed with curiosity." You know the other one about curiosity, don't you Jack? This is not your island. This is *our* island. And the only reason you're living on it, is because we let you live on it.

Sawyer: [asks Jack why he snapped at Kate] I'm just saying.
Jack: Yeah, I know, you love her.
Sawyer: What'd you say?

"Lost: The Man from Tallahassee (#3.13)" (2007)
Kate Austen: What did they do to you, Jack?
Jack Shephard: I made a deal with them. They're gonna let me go.
Kate Austen: Where?
Jack Shephard: Home.

Jack Shephard: [leans into Kate's ear so the Other's can't hear... ] I will come back for you.

"Lost: The Whole Truth (#2.16)" (2006)
Henry Gale: I guess this is my reward for good behavior, huh? I finally got some points for drawing Ana-Lucia that map.
John Locke: What?
Dr. Jack Shephard: Did you...
John Locke: No.
Henry Gale: Wow, you guys have some real trust issues, don't you? Guess it makes sense she didn't tell you. I mean, with the two of you fighting all the time. Of course, if I was one of them - these people that you seem to think are your enemies - what would I do? Well, there'd be no balloon, so I'd draw a map to a real secluded place like a cave or some underbrush - good place for a trap - an ambush. And when your friends got there a bunch of my people would be waiting for them. Then they'd use them to trade for me. I guess it's a good thing I'm not one of them, huh?
Henry Gale: You guys got any milk?

Henry Gale: This must be my reward for good behavior, huh? I guess I earned myself some goodwill for finally drawing that map for Ana.
John Locke: What map?
Henry Gale: To my balloon.
Jack Shephard: Did you... ?
John Locke: No!
Henry Gale: Wow. You guys have some real trust issues, don't you?... I guess it makes sense she didn't tell you. I mean, with the two of you fighting all the time.
[eats some cereal]
Henry Gale: Of course, if I was one of them, these people that you seem to think are your enemies, what would I do?
[eats some again, speaks with small breaks, and pretends if he was thinking]
Henry Gale: ... Well, there'd be no balloon... So I'd draw a map to a real secluded place... like a cave or some underbrush. A good place for a trap. An ambush... And when your friends got there, a bunch of my people'd be waiting for them... And then they'd use them to trade for me.
[smiles, like he was joking before]
Henry Gale: I guess it's a good thing I'm not one of them, huh? You guys got any milk?

"Lost: Special (#1.14)" (2005)
Charlie: Guys, you have to look at this!
Jack: What is it?
Charlie: Claire's diary.
[hold it out for them to read]
Sayid: You read her diary?
Charlie: I know, I'm bloody scum... just read it!

[about Michael's parenting]
Hurley: He seems to hate it, doesn't he?
Jack: What?
Hurley: Being a dad.
Jack: No, it's just... a lot of hard work.

"Lost: Not in Portland (#3.7)" (2007)
Tom: What happened?
Jack Shephard: I accidentally nicked an artery.
Tom: Isn't that what you already did?
Jack Shephard: Yeah, well, that was on purpose.

Henry Gale: Do you believe in God, Jack?
Jack Shephard: Do you?
Henry Gale: Two days after I found out I had a fatal tumor on my spine, a spinal surgeon fell out of the sky... and if that's not proof of God, I don't know what is.

"Lost: House of the Rising Sun (#1.6)" (2004)
Kate: [Kate has stumbled upon some decaying bodies] Where would they come from?
Jack: Didn't you guys shoot a polar bear last week?
Kate: Yeah.
Jack: Where'd *that* come from?

Jack: Kate, how did you get to be this way? Just what is it that you did?
Kate: You had your chance to know.

"Lost: Everybody Loves Hugo (#6.12)" (2010)
Jack Shephard: You asked me to trust you, Hurley. This is me trusting you.

Ben Linus: Kinda makes you think, doesn't it?
Jack Shephard: What's that?
Ben Linus: Ilana. There she was: hand-picked by Jacob, trained to come and protect you candidates. No sooner does she tell you who you are, than she blows up. The island was done with her. Makes me wonder what's gonna happen, when it's done with us.

"Lost: The Cost of Living (#3.5)" (2006)
Ben: Do you believe in God, Jack?
Jack: Do you?
Ben: Two days after I found out I had a fatal tumor on my spine, a spinal surgeon fell out of the sky... and if that's not proof of God, I don't know what is.

Jack: You want me to save your life.
Henry Gale: No, I want you to want to save my life.

"Lost: The Candidate (#6.14)" (2010)
Jack Shephard: Now, wait... wait.
James 'Sawyer' Ford: What the hell are you doing, Doc?
Jack Shephard: Nothing's gonna happen.
James 'Sawyer' Ford: What?
Jack Shephard: Don't pull those wires out, we're okay. Nothing's gonna happen.
James 'Sawyer' Ford: I don't pull this wires Locke's gonna blow us to kingdom come.
Jack Shephard: No, he's not. Locke can't kill us.
Hugo 'Hurley' Reyes: Uh... what?
Jack Shephard: This is what he wanted. This is what he's been waiting for. Everything he has done is to get us here. He wanted to get us all here inside this submarine at the same time. Nice and close place where we had no hopes of getting out of.
Jin Kwon: I don't understand.
Jack Shephard: Locke said he can't leave the island without us. But, I think he can't leave the island unless we're all dead. He told me he could kill any one of us whenever he wanted. So what if he hasn't because he's... he's not allowed to by the code of the island. What if he's trying to get us to kill each other?
James 'Sawyer' Ford: Stay out of my way, Doc.
Jack Shephard: No! If he wanted that thing to blow up, why would he put a timer in it? Why not just throw it inside?
James 'Sawyer' Ford: I don't care.
Jack Shephard: Nothing is going to happen.
James 'Sawyer' Ford: It's not your decision to make.
Jack Shephard: He can't kill us.
James 'Sawyer' Ford: I'm not gonna stand here and do nothing and let his bomb go off.
Jack Shephard: James, we are going to be okay. You just have to trust me.
James 'Sawyer' Ford: Sorry Doc... I don't!

Sayid Jarrah: Listen carefully, There's a well on the main island, half a mile south of the camp we just left. Desmond's inside it. Locke wants him dead which means you're going to need him for something. You understand me?
Jack Shephard: Why are you telling me this?
Sayid Jarrah: Because it's going to be you, Jack.
[runs off with the bomb]
Hugo 'Hurley' Reyes: Sayid!

"Lost: Stranger in a Strange Land (#3.9)" (2007)

Jack Shephard: Together.

Jack Shephard: Now, put it on me. Put it on me!

"Lost: Adrift (#2.2)" (2005)
John Locke: Why do you find it so hard to believe?
Jack Shephard: Why do you find it so easy?
John Locke: It's never been easy!

Hugo 'Hurley' Reyes: How is it called again, when doctors try to appease their patients?
Jack Shephard: You mean doctor-patient relationship?
Hugo 'Hurley' Reyes: Yeah, that. You suck at that.

"Lost: The Beginning of the End (#4.1)" (2008)
Jack Shephard: Where is it?
Benjamin Linus: Okay, I probably should have told you that I saw her take the phone, but you beat me up, Jack. I owed you one.
Jack Shephard: What are you talking about?
Benjamin Linus: Kate took it when she hugged you... She found the right trail too, but you wouldn't listen to her, so I guess she's taken matters into her own hands. But look on the bright side - at least somebody around here knows what the hell they're doing.

Hugo 'Hurley' Reyes: I don't think we did the right thing, Jack. I think it wants us to come back!
Jack Shephard: Hurley.
Hugo 'Hurley' Reyes: And it's going to do everything it can...
Jack Shephard: We're never going back!
Hugo 'Hurley' Reyes: Never say never, dude...

"Lost: Outlaws (#1.16)" (2005)
Jack: That's why the Sox will never win the series.
Sawyer: [recognizing when Jack's father said that to him] What's that? What'd you just say?
Jack: I said that's why the Red Sox will never win the series.
Sawyer: What the hell is that supposed to mean?
Jack: Its just something my father used to say going through life knowing that people hated him. Instead of taking responsibility for it, he just put it on fate. Said he was made that way.
Sawyer: [shaken up] Your daddy, he a doctor, too?
Jack: Was. He's dead. Why do you want to know about my father?
Sawyer: [long pause] No reason.

Sawyer: Stick 'em up.
Jack: You trying to be funny?
Sawyer: Yeah.

Jack: Okay. Give me a seven iron.

"Lost: One of Us (#3.16)" (2007)

Jack Shephard: I was standing right beside you when that sub blew up. I saw your face. I saw that you want, more than anything, to get off this island. That's what we all want. That makes you one of us.

Jack Shephard: I trust her. My word should be good enough.
Sayid Jarrah: [rather quickly replies] It's not.

"Lost: What Kate Did (#2.9)" (2005)
Dr. Jack Shephard: Figured you could use a drink. I know I could.
Ana-Lucia Cortez: Are you going to try to convince me that everyone here doesn't hate me?
Dr. Jack Shephard: Only if you're going to try to convince me that every woman in the world's not crazy.

Jack: Sorry, man, I know this hurts. Michael told me you pulled the bullet out with your bare hands. You'll have to show me how to do that sometime.
Sawyer: [whispering] Where is she?
Jack: What? I didn't...
Sawyer: [whispering] Where is she?
Jack: You mean Kate. She's been watching over you for the past 24 hours straight. The only way I could get rid of her was to send her out to get some food for you.
Sawyer: [whispering] I love her. I love her.

"Lost: S.O.S. (#2.19)" (2006)

Jack: Until I get my voice back. And then I'm gonna yell some more.
Kate: Maybe they can't hear you.
Jack: Oh, they can hear me.
Kate: [pause] I'm sorry I kissed you.
Jack: I'm not.

Jack: [Jack walks up to Kate and Sawyer] I need your help. I'm going out to find our friend with the beard.

Jack: So you shot him with an arrow?
Sayid: Do I have the bow?

[first lines]
Charlie: [as Jack fiddles with the transceiver] Anything?
Jack: You keep asking if there's anything.
Charlie: Pardon me for appearing desperate, but before the pilot was *ripped* from the cockpit, he did say that no one's going to find us unless we get that transceiver working. So... is there anything?
Jack: No.
Charlie: Okay.

"Lost: Exodus: Part 1 (#1.23)" (2005)
Sawyer: Jack! About a week before we all got on the plane, I got to talking to this man in a bar in Sydney. He was American too. A doctor. I've been on some benders in my time, but this guy, he was going for an all time record. It turns out this guy has a son, his son's a doctor, too. They had some kind of big time falling out. The guy knew it was his fault, even though his son was back in the States thinking the same damn thing. See, kids are like dogs, you knock them around enough. they'll think they did something to deserve it. Anyway, there's a pay phone in this bar. And this guy... Christian... tells me he wishes he had the stones to pick up the phone, call his kid, tell him he's sorry, that he's a better doctor than he'll ever be. He's proud, and he loves him. I had to take off, but, something tells me he never got around to making that call. Small world, huh?
Jack: [unable to hold back tears] Yeah...

"Lost: The Moth (#1.7)" (2004)
Jack: [Jack's shoulder is dislocated; Charlie is going to have to pop it back in] I need your help on this, man.

Jack: Yes, you can.
Charlie: I can't...
Jack: Yes, you can!
Charlie: [calming down] Okay. What do I - what do I do?
Jack: Take my hand.
Charlie: [positioning himself over Jack] Just a second. Okay. Okay, wait. Okay. Okay.
Jack: Now, when I tell you to... pull as hard as you possibly can.
Charlie: [panicking] Jack, I don't know if - I don't know if I can - I don't - I don't...
Jack: You can do this, Charlie.
Charlie: Okay. Okay, okay, okay. Okay.
Jack: [Charlie grips his hand as Jack braces for the impact] Now!

Charlie Pace: [woodenly] I didn't see anything... hear anything. I don't remember... anything.
Charlie Pace: [Jack turns away] Claire.
Jack Shephard: What?
Charlie Pace: That's all they wanted.

"Lost: White Rabbit (#1.5)" (2004)
Dr. Jack Shephard: It's been six days... and we're all still waiting. Waiting for someone to come. Well, what if they don't? We have to stop waiting. We need to start figuring things out. A woman died this morning just going for a swim, and he tried to save her, and now you're about you crucify him? We can't do *this*. Every man for himself is not gonna work. It's time to start organizing. We need to figure out how we're gonna *survive* here. Now I found water... fresh water up in the valley. I'll take a group in at first light. If you don't wanna come, then find another way to contribute! Last week most of us were strangers. But we're all here now, and God knows how long we're gonna be here. But if we can't, live together... we're gonna die alone.

"Lost: Born to Run (#1.22)" (2005)
Hugo 'Hurley' Reyes: Hey, you don't think Kate did it, do you?
John Locke: [looking confused] Why would Kate poison Michael?
Hugo 'Hurley' Reyes: Well, you know, the whole fugitive thing.
[pause while Jack makes a face]
Hugo 'Hurley' Reyes: [to Jack] He doesn't know.
Jack Shephard: [shakes head]
Hugo 'Hurley' Reyes: [shouts] We how am I supposed to keep it straight who knows what around here? I mean Steve didn't even know about the polar bear.

Jack Shephard: Well enjoy it. I'm sure something will go wrong soon enough.

"Lost: Two for the Road (#2.20)" (2006)

Kate Austen: Let him go - he's alone! They didn't just push him out into the jungle, Jack. He's alone!
Jack Shephard: Okay. Let's go.

Ben Linus: Are you looking for your pills Jack? I flushed them down the toilet.
Jack Shephard: Thank you. I was just going to do that myself.
Ben Linus: Yeah, I figured you were.
Jack Shephard: Going somewhere?
Ben Linus: I'm checking out.
Jack Shephard: Where are we going?
Ben Linus: You're going home. Go find yourself a suitcase, if there's anything in this life you want, pack it in there. Because you're never coming back.
Jack Shephard: Good.
Ben Linus: Good. I'll pick you up in six hours.
Jack Shephard: And where will you be going?
Ben Linus: John's casket is outside in a carpet van. I need to move it somewhere safe.

"Lost: Greatest Hits (#3.21)" (2007)
Sayid Jarrah: While I appreciate your honesty, Jack, that doesn't explain why you brought us out here.
Jack Shephard: [yelling into the forest] Danielle! Show 'em.
[Danielle picks up two wires and when she touches them together, dynamite blows up a tree of in the distance]
Jack Shephard: When Juliet told me they were coming, the first thing I thought was, "Where the hell are we gonna hide this time?" But hiding is pointless. They're just gonna keep coming back. And so I went out and found some help. And, for the past few days, she's been bringing dynamite back from The Black Rock. For the very first time, we know exactly what they want, when they are coming to get it, and they have no idea that we are going to be waiting for them. So, Juliet is going to mark the tents with the white rocks, just like she was told to. But there's not going to be any pregnant women inside; there's gonna be plenty of what we just used on that tree. So, tomorrow night, we stop hiding, we stop running, we stop living in fear, because when they show up, we're going to blow them all to hell.

"Lost: The Other Woman (#4.6)" (2008)
Jack Shephard: You people had a therapist?
Juliet Burke: It's very stressful being an Other, Jack.
