The Grinch is a man shaped creature, with a cat-like face, and with no ears. He is covered with light green fur, and has large yellow eyes, with red pupils, and prominent black eyebrows, and square white teeth. He was very grumpy. He lived in a cave on the top of a mountain, called Mt. Crumpit, at the north of a very large, busy town, called Who-ville. The Grinch lived with his pet dog, named Max.
Who-ville was inhabited by a species of people called Whos. The Grinch despised the Whos, and they all left him alone, because they were probably quite afraid of him. The Whos all loved Christmas, and celebrated it thouroughly. The Grinch hated Christmas.
During December, 1957, the Grinch was in his early fifties. He was just about fedup of the whole big deal the Whos made out of Christmas, all the noise, all the feasting and all the singing.
So, during the late afternoon of Christmas Eve, 1957, the Grinch designed a Santa Claus costume and put it on. He disguised his dog, Max, as a reindeer. He dug up an old sleigh, and a load of empty sacks, and off they went, him and Max, into who-ville.
After stealing all the Christmas decorations, Christmas food, and presents in every nook and cranny of the town, the Grinch's sleigh was piled high, with one massive sack, full of Christmas stuff.
But after hearing the all the Whos sing carols, he realised that Christmas wasn't about presents, decorations, food ect. It meant much more. And so, the Grinch returned to Who-ville, returned all their belongings and celebrated Christmas with them. Ever since that day, the Grinch has been very popular with all the Whos, and he has been very merry and cheerful!
