Miss Moneypenny is the personal assistant/secretary of "M", the head of British Intelligence/MI-6, in the James Bond series. She has an infatuation/crush on James, hoping he will marry her. In return, James flirts with her whenever he visits M's office. She has been known to help James Bond hide his love affairs with other women. She is attractive, loyal, clever and intelligent.

Her fictional character was inspired by Vera Atkins, who worked as a secretary attached to the French section of the Special Operations Executive (SOE) during WWII where she helped organise resistance groups. Her superior was legendary spy master Maurice Buckman who later became Ian Fleming's model for the "M" character.

After the war, Vera helped track down 117 people responsible for the murders of SOE agents sent into occupied France. She was awarded both the Lgion d'honneur and the Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE). She died on June 24, 2000 in a nursing home in Hastings, East Sussex, UK. She was 92.

Eve is the given first name for Miss Moneypenny, which she uses while out as a field agent.
