Kcon, a global K-Pop festival featuring performances and panels, is returning to Los Angeles in July.
The three-day event, taking place at the Crypto.com Arena, L.A. Convention Center and Gilbert Lindsay Plaza in Dtla, will once again give local K-pop fans the chance to see a slew of popular groups under the same roof.
The festival, put on by Cj Enm, officially announced its lineup today (June 5) after having previously released a partial lineup earlier in the week. Acts such as Enhypen, SHINee’s Taemin, Nmixx and P1Harmony are among the groups set to participate.
“Last year’s Kcon L.A. marked a turning point and focused on expanding both the size and scope of Kcon, such as having a major media partner for the first time and we are excited to build on this momentum,” Cj Enm’s head of music entertainment Harry H.K. Shin said in a release,...

The House of M is a storyline that a slew of fans want to see play out in the MCU. Ever since Avengers: Age of Ultron introduced Wanda Maximoff into the MCU, fans have been speculating how Marvel Studios intended to do the storyline without any mutants being around.
Now Mutants are headed into the MCU, and Wanda Maximoff, for all reasons and purposes, has been pronounced dead. How, then, will the Marvel Studios work in the House of M storyline into the Marvel Cinematic Universe?
Scarlet Witch in WandaVision | Marvel Studios
A rule of thumb when it comes to fiction in general, is that if there is no body shown on screen after a character has died, they can be presumed to be alive. Given that there was a very distinct red explosion before Wanda Maximoff was ‘crushed’ by the debris on Wundagore Mountain, there is a very potent...

With Warner Media merging with Discovery back in 2022 and consolidation within the entertainment industry on the rise ever since, many fans of TCM — which is owned by Warner — fear their favorite home for cinema history might fall victim to these drastic cuts. Thankfully the channel continues to sparkle and shine like the Hollywood of old with filmmakers Steven Spielberg, Martin Scorsese, and Paul Thomas Anderson jumping on board to help curate and boost recognition of the channel. With their help, other directors have also come aboard — Guillermo del Toro, Wes Anderson, and Jason Reitman to name a few — offering their picks each month in the hopes of bringing in more viewers and keeping the love for classic cinema alive. This month’s curator is multi-hyphenate Viggo Mortensen, whose second directorial effort, “The Dead Don’t Hurt,” was released today.
In reflecting on his cinematic influences, Mortensen reached back to one of the heydays of Hollywood,...

It’s been 10 years since X-Men: Days of Future Past hit theatres, ushering in an endgame to a universe that would not be replicated until Avengers: Infinity War, four years later. It closed the book in the older generation of X-Men that had carried the franchise until their younger variants had been introduced in X-Men: First Class.

X-Men: Days of Future Past remains one of the most important X-Men films, one that adapts the tragic and brutal Days of Future Past storyline from the comics. It involves Wolverine racing against time to erase the future that has Sentinels hunting and murdering mutants with impunity for the sake of ‘preserving the human race’.

The X-Men are due to make thier appearance in the MCU, and there are a lot of theories as to how they will be integrated into the history of the franchise. Some have suggested that mutants will enter the MCU from a different universe, one that will be assimilated into the sacred timeline. However, another theory has emerged, suggesting that the X-Men have already been part of the MCU.
The X-Men | Marvel Comics
There have been multiple theories about how the X-Men exist in the MCU. Some have suggested that Charles Xavier is responsible for hiding mutants in the MCU, while others say that the mutants will slowly emerge now that The Blip has been undone. There is one theory that suggests that not only have mutants always existed in the MCU, but some sort of cataclysmic event wiped them out from the memories of the general public.

Everyone knows that CBS is America's most watched network, and it's home to many extremely popular long-running shows. The example that we all know for sure is The Big Bang Theory, and of course, how can we live without NCIS, right?
But before they became the most popular shows in the world, there were many other amazingly crafted projects on CBS – the ones that are still considered genre-defining or groundbreaking pieces of television.
Here are 5 old but gold shows you need to watch right now to feel the brilliance of days gone by.
1. Magnum, P.I. (1980)
Missed Tom Selleck's mustache? Well, time to check out the young version of it. In Magnum, P.I., the actor plays Detective Thomas Sullivan, a former Navy lieutenant and Vietnam Special Forces veteran who resigned his commission at the age of thirty-three. The main reason? To move to Hawaii and live the life he never had when he was younger.

If you’re not caught up on your peak TV viewing, consider this your spoiler warning. Four months have passed since Jennifer Coolidge bagged her second consecutive Emmy for “The White Lotus” and thus became the eighth drama or comedy series regular honored by the TV academy for a season in which her character died. Emmy nominations of this kind have become quite common in recent years, and it’s possible that over 15% of the 2024 lead and supporting continuing series contenders will be added to the list.
The current consensus among more than 2,400 Gold Derby users is that five continuing series performers whose characters perished within the past year will receive Emmy nominations, while a few others have outside shots at recognition. This does not include characters like Anakin Skywalker who died before their shows’ latest seasons began but appear as ghosts or in flashbacks. Undead characters like most of...

10. Avatar: The Last Airbender (2005–2008)
An instant classic of an animated movie, Avatar: The Last Airbender has seen too many failed attempts at its live adaptations, but the original still stands unmatched.
In the world of Avatar, some people are able to bend the elements, and one chosen can bend all four of them — and this time, it’s a boy who must also save the world.
You can watch Avatar: The Last Airbender on Netflix and Apple TV.
9. House (2004–2012)
When it comes to fan favorite fictional sociopaths, few characters stand as popular as Dr. House (save for BBC’s Sherlock who famously did not have a perfect finale). The cynical and anti-social House is a brilliant medic who saves lives in cases his colleagues can’t crack, but he does it while being a massive thorn in their backs.
You can watch House on Netflix and Prime Video.

Somewhere in Yolande Zauberman’s overly diffuse documentary La Belle de Gaza is a sturdier and more clarifying film. But as it stands, the project, which premiered at Cannes, is a sprawling mass of missed opportunities.
The film loosely follows a group of Arab trans women on Hatnufa Street, an under-lit back street in Tel Aviv. Zauberman encountered her subjects while shooting her documentary M. In that project, which premiered at the Locarno Film Festival in 2018, the director investigated sexual abuse in an Orthodox community in Israel. According to press notes for her new doc, in order to make a scene in M work, Zauberman needed to film a trans woman walking away from the camera. The girls she met on Hatnufa agreed. It wasn’t until later, when Zauberman returned to Paris, that her partner Sélim Nassib, who did sound for La Belle de Gaza and was present, told...

It was on a backstreet in Tel Aviv while filming her last film, M — which would go on to win a César Award for best documentary — that the French documentarian Yolande Zauberman found the subject for her latest, La Belle de Gaza (The Beauty of Gaza).
Zauberman was filming three young Arab trans women, one who told her filmmaking partner in Arabic that she walked from Gaza to Tel Aviv. “I thought it was such a nearly impossible path,” recalls Zauberman. “First, to be a man, becoming a woman, coming from Gaza to Tel Aviv, and being a Muslim in Tel Aviv. I really wanted to find this woman and to see how she was seeing the world.” After losing contact with the woman, Zauberman began searching for her. That journey would become the impetus for — and title of — her latest doc, La Belle de Gaza.

X-Men '97 Finale Echoes What Logan Warned Jean Grey About in Episode 5 - Main Image
The X-Men '97 finale sees the team of mutants separated on different timelines: some in the past, some in the future. As the unresolved stories build up for season 2, here's how Logan's ominous warning lines up with the X-Men '97 finale.
As Bishop said, "Luckily, this ain't our first time at 'the X-Men are dead' rodeo." The finale may have sparked hope for the mutants in returning to their original time, but it also poses a darkness looming in their future.
Content Spoilers: This article contains spoilers for X-Men '97 finale, so proceed with caution.
Finale Sees the X-Men 'Yanked' Through Time
Beast failed to stop the catastrophic impact of the Asteroid M on Earth, leaving the X-Men to prepare to sacrifice themselves. Instead of meeting their demise, however, they were sent to a different timeline.

Spoilers for "X-Men '97" to follow.
"I am trying to be better," proclaimed Magneto — "Please... do not make me let you down." He was speaking to a small United Nations panel, but addressing humanity as a whole. So, of course, mankind again forced his iron (controlling) fist.
As of episode 9, "Tolerance Is Extinction Part 2," Magneto is once more an antagonist to the X-Men (I won't say "bad guy"). He puts on his old red outfit, complete with the telepathy-blocking helmet. Regrettably, I don't think we'll be seeing Magneto back in the opening credits team line-up anytime soon, if ever again.
This heel U-turn is far from unmotivated, though. The season's Big Bad, Bastion, orchestrated the genocide of mutant nation Genosha and intends to build a future where human/Sentinel hybrids rule enslaved mutants. Magneto is a Holocaust survivor (a tragic backstory that "X-Men '97" has maintained). He's always refused to...

Back in December, the folks at Spooky Pinball announced that they were making a very limited edition pinball machine inspired by Tobe Hooper’s 1974 classic The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. If you (like me) weren’t able to get one of those 888 machines, well, at least that wasn’t our only chance to play a Chainsaw pinball game. A while back, Zen Studios brought a horror-themed pinball game called Pinball M to PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. Pinball M includes pinball games inspired by the likes of John Carpenter’s The Thing, the Chucky franchise, Dead by Daylight, Duke Nukem, and Zen Studios’ Lovecraft-inspired Wrath of the Elder Gods Director’s Cut – and on June 6th, it will be adding a pinball game inspired by the 2022 film Texas Chainsaw Massacre!

Wanda was never just a character in the MCU. She started out a villain, became a hero, became a hero with a tragic backstory, lost everything, and circled back to being a villain until eventually becoming sort of a hero again by destroying Darkhold and supposedly taking her own life.
Now even the ending of ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ was pretty open-ended, and the official statements on the matter really did nothing to answer the question – is Wanda still alive within the MCU?
Most fans, including me, believe that collapsing debris can’t really do much against Nexus being with such a Multiversal potential, after all, we’ve seen Wanda tanking far worse, so she will likely return. Recently, there’s been a few rumors circling that she is going to get her own standalone movie, even if that doesn’t happen, there are a few projects in which she could return,...

Rihanna‘s “Take a Bow” is one of her most underrated songs, which is pretty shocking considering how popular it was back in the 2000s. The track was co-written by an R&b star and it originally had an Asian flavor. The tune shares its title and some of its other attributes with a Madonna song from the 1990s.

One of television's greatest cads is Army surgeon Benjamin Franklin "Hawkeye" Pierce, played by Alan Alda, on the classic sitcom series M*A*S*H. He's almost always hooking up with one nurse or another, but in one special episode, audiences got to see what happened when a woman truly captured his heart. In the season 4 episode "The More I See You," a nurse named Carlye ends up working in the Mash 4077 unit, and Hawkeye recognized her as the only woman (at that point) he had ever loved. She broke his heart and might even explain why he has such a negative view of marriage and even monogamy throughout the series, and their reunion is as chaotic as you might expect.
Carlye is played by actor Blythe Danner in the episode, and she's absolutely fantastic. She manages to feel totally at home in the world of "M*A*S*H...

Fox News and MSNBC saw slight viewership increases in primetime in the month of January as the 2024 primary season got underway, although the whole contest may be short-lived given Donald Trump’s sweep of Iowa and New Hampshire and Joe Biden’s nominal opposition.
Fox News topped the month with an average of 1.98 million viewers in seven-night primetime, a 2% increase from the same month a year ago, while MSNBC averaged 1.09 million, up 4%, and CNN posted 605,000, down 4%.
In the 25-54 demo, Fox News averaged 219,000, down 8%, compared to CNN with 124,000, down 14%, and MSNBC with 106,000, off by 3%.
In total day, Fox News averaged 1.25 million, down 7%, compared to MSNBC with 761,000, up 8%, and CNN with 463,000, down 12%. In the total-day demo, Fox News averaged 149,000, down 14%, compared to CNN with 86,000, down 20% and MSNBC with 77,000, down 1%.

Nicola Maccanico, a former Warner Bros. and Sky Italia senior exec, has been spearheading the radical overhaul of Rome’s Cinecittà Studios since April 2021, when the government-owned facilities embarked on a mission to secure a multi-million dollar loan provided by the European Union’s post-pandemic recovery fund.
Three years later, the studios are equipped with 20 state-of-the-art soundstages, including one of Europe’s largest LED walls, and have become a magnet for Hollywood productions such as Roland Emmerich’s gladiator series “Those About to Die.” As the production hiatus brought on by the Hollywood strikes eases up, more U.S. shoots are soon to come, he vows.
Below, Maccanico discusses with Variety what he’s accomplished in terms of reviving the studios and what remains to be done.

Yesterday, Aniplex got the whole Internet buzzing with one letter: "O." Today, they're doing it again. In a similar move to yesterday's reveal , the studio today launched another vague teaser. This site (with the URL subdirectory "z8p0g9") depicts a black letter M against a bright red background. A hunt through the source code of both O and M reveals nothing so far — meaning the studio really is playing these announcements very close to the chest. Related: Aniplex's Latest Anime Teaser is Literally Just the Letter "O" Before you start looking up which of your favorite manga and light novels start with the letters "Om," though, bear in mind that Codename O and Codename M are confirmed to be two separate projects. M, according to the Demon Slayer and Sword Art Online producer, is "an animation project similar to O," rather than the second in a series of announcements slowly spelling out the name.

Now that the age of superheroes is ending, video game adaptations are the new cinematic frontier. We've seen TV adaptations like "Arcane" and "The Last of Us" receive critical acclaim, while big-screen adaptations like the "Sonic the Hedgehog" movies have proved to be huge commercial hits. The next highly anticipated TV adaptation of a beloved video game franchise is "Fallout," co-created by Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy ("Westworld") with Geneva Robertson-Dworet ("Tomb Raider") and Graham Wagner ("Portlandia") serving as showrunners.
"Fallout" takes place in 2296, 219 years after a great nuclear war that annihilated mankind. The survivors took refuge in underground bunkers known as Vaults. Those who leave the vaults encounter a dangerously hostile and brutal wasteland that, despite some elements of advanced technology, retains the aesthetics of 1950s Americana. It's a retrofuturistic story set hundreds of years in the future, featuring mutated monsters and intelligent (and somehow hot) ghouls. But to...

When it comes to talking about TV shows with a real-world message, actors, writers, and others involved have to walk a fine line between self-deprecating and self-important. Can a show make its viewers better people? Can it actually change the world? These are questions the cast and crew of "M*A*S*H" seem to get asked a lot, as a recent retrospective on the series titled "M*A*S*H: The Comedy That Changed Television" demonstrates.
The special includes commentary from "M*A*S*H" alums who tell stories about the impact the groundbreaking dramedy series had on them personally and on the world at large. In one archival footage scene, someone at a press conference asked actor William Christopher about whether the Vietnam-era show could've changed Americans' opinions about the war. Though it’s been off the air for more than 40 years, the legacy of the classic sitcom M*A*S*H” is still strong. In fact, the show’s finale still holds the record, even after all these years, for the most-watched scripted television episode ever. And, through syndication and streaming, the show’s audience continues to grow, too. M*A*S*H has always enjoyed a special relationship with its fans; speaking at Steel City Con a few years ago, Loretta Swit (who played Nurse “Hot Lips” Houlihan) talked about how she’d heard from one fan in particular whose life had literally been transformed by the show. In 1982, "Cheers" premiered and started one of the great runs in TV history, staying on-air for 11 seasons and 275 episodes — not bad for a show that almost crashed and burned in its first season. Of course, I, being born in 1988, missed most of that run. But I've always been aware of the series' massive influence and lasting legacy as one of the finest sitcoms ever made. "Cheers" maintains that standing 30 years after the final episode aired.
Aired on May 20, 1993, "One for the Road" quickly became the second-highest-rated series finale of all time, just losing out to CBS's "M*A*S*H" series finale. But it wasn't just the people watching from home that made the end of "Cheers" so momentous. As Upi reported at the time, "Thousands gathered at bars and parties across the nation to watch." In other words, the 90-minute finale episode was somewhat of a national moment.

A lot of genre fans had been waiting sixteen years to see director Eli Roth’s holiday slasher Thanksgiving (read our review Here), ever since he contributed a faux trailer for the concept to the Robert Rodriguez / Quentin Tarantino double feature Grindhouse back in 2007. The movie hasn’t exactly done massive numbers since reaching theatres a week and a half ago; so far it has racked up just over $30 million at the global box office. But that’s enough to get Sony’s TriStar Pictures to greenlight a sequel! Roth took to social media to announce that Thanksgiving 2 is a go, and he’ll be returning to the helm for this follow-up! Roth’s announcement can be seen at the bottom of this article.
Roth says that he and Thanksgiving co-writer Jeff Rendell (who played the homicidal pilgrim in the trailer) will be taking the next year to working on the Thanksgiving 2 script,...

When it comes to watching modern TV shows, the binge-watch process is easy: find them on streaming or cable, click, and watch. For older shows, though, there's often a catch. Either a classic sitcom won't be available on streaming, or it'll have an improper aspect ratio or degraded image, or something might be off with the sound. Classic TV fans know that sometimes, the best way to experience a show is not in syndicated reruns, where whole scenes might be cut out, songs replaced, or edits tampered with.
The '70s anti-war sitcom "M*A*S*H" is no exception. There are plenty of versions of the show floating around, but most folks who have caught up with it in the past few years may have done so via Hulu, where a crisp HD remaster makes the series feel new again. On Hulu, though, the show's aspect ratio is wacky,...

There was a time when a great many people would proclaim Francis Ford Coppola's mob masterpiece "The Godfather" as the greatest American film of the last 50 years. Those people can't do that anymore. It isn't because the movie has lost any of its artistic power or breathtaking cinematic invention. It's simply because "The Godfather" is now 51 years old, having been released back in 1972. The film is now closer to 1922, five years prior to the popularization of synchronized sound in film, than it is to today, and that gap will only continue to grow thanks to the inevitable march of time.
Because of that time, we have lost so many people involved in the making of the picture, including Mario Puzo, the film's co-writer and author of the original novel, and Gordon Willis, the cinematographer who crafted the signature dark look of the picture. Also gone are many of the film's cast members,...

In the world of movies and TV shows, there are countless adaptations that have been made from popular novels and biographical works. But these forms of entertainment have also been inspired by and adapted from some of the biggest video games, which don't get nearly as much attention as they should. In 2023, HBO's acclaimed series "The Last of Us," based on the Sony action-adventure game franchise of the same name, broke viewership records and became the most-watched show in the history of the streaming platform in Europe and Latin America, per the Associated Press.
Along with television series, video-game-to-movie adaptations have also grown in popularity among audiences, with the star-studded "The Super Mario Bros." movie, adapted from the beloved game franchise by Nintendo, being the second-highest grossing film of 2023 so far, as reported by Insider. If you caught up with "M*A*S*H" sometime after the beloved wartime sitcom ended its much-lauded original run, you'd be forgiven for having no clue about the series' spinoffs. After all, 50 years after it first aired, "M*A*S*H" remains a major pillar of TV history -- for its rollicking anti-authority spirit and bleeding heart attitude, its genre-blending and experimental episodes, and its record-breaking finale telecast, which is still by some measures the most-watched in the history of television. "AfterMASH," though? Well, not so much.
It's a testament to the flagship series' strengths that decades after it ended, its bizarre and short-lived spinoffs haven't tainted its reputation at all. In fact, they've mostly been forgotten, in part because they're unavailable on streaming and tough to find on home video. Three "M*A*S*H" spinoffs were made in hopes of capitalizing on some of the original series' magic, but only one -- the...

Investment in original content production continues to grow in Italy where resources across all genres reached a total of €1.8 billion ($1.9 billion) thanks to increased investments from U.S. streamers. But linear TV remains the Italian industry’s main driver.
That’s the main takeaway from the annual report on local production presented on Friday by Italy’s TV producers’ association APA at Rome’s Mia market
The $1.9 billion pot of cash poured into Italian productions of all types in 2022 represented only a small increase over 2021, which is when local originals were boosted by a 55% post-pandemic growth spurt, according to figures from the APA report.
Film and TV product currently account for 55% of these investments with an increase in resources now going into documentaries and animation product mostly destined for streaming play.
“The constantly growing investment from streamers is currently worth almost a third of the total TV market,” said APA chief Chiara Sbarigia.

The popularity of "M*A*S*H" is well-documented: Its record-setting finale telecast, which captivated 125 million people in total, is cited in media studies lessons, bar trivia games, and world record books alike. But when we talk about how "M*A*S*H" went out on a high note with the most-watched non-Super Bowl telecast of all time, we don't often talk about what those viewership numbers make clear: The show ended while plenty of fans were still clamoring for more.
"M*A*S*H" ran for 11 seasons before bowing out with the feature-length finale, "Goodbye, Farewell, and Amen." But unlike most shows that fizzle out after a long run or are canceled after a short one, "M*A*S*H" didn't have trouble getting audiences' attention. According to classic TV ratings databases, nine of the show's seasons were among the top 10 most-watched shows on TV, and millions of fans tuned in regularly even before its big finish. By all indications, the...

It is proving to be a somewhat unusual season for both the Texas A&m Aggies and the No. 11 Alabama Crimson Tide. Since arriving in College Station, Jimbo Fishers’ Aggie teams haven’t had much in terms of offense, but this year, they have a top-15 scoring unit. Conversely, putting up points has never been a problem for Nick Saban’s Crimson Tide, but in 2023, they are outside the top 50 nationally. Both squads are still in contention for the SEC West title, so this game will be incredibly important for both programs. You can watch the action on Saturday, Oct. 7 at 3:30 p.m. Et on CBS, which you can stream with a 5-Day Free Trial of Directv Stream.

Consequence is heading up north and over the border for the 2023 M for Montreal Marathon festival. The annual gathering brings together independent and emerging artists from across Canada (and a few international locations!) to fill venues throughout the city. We’ll be taking over the beautiful La Sala Rossa music hall on Saturday, November 18th to present a four-act bill spotlighting the range of talent coming out of our northern neighbors.
Headlining the ticket will be rising Sub Pop signees Cartel Madras, the sisterly duo pioneering what they dub “goonda rap,” an explosive blend of underground trap and house music with a queer punk aesthetic. Then there’s alt-pop singer-songwriter dee holt, who dropped her i’ll be there EP earlier this year.
We’ll also welcome another duo to the stage, as the Juno-winning, Polaris Prize-longlisted, Cirque du Soleil-composing Milk & Bone will bring their electropop stylings to the showcase.
