Making an acting debut at the age of 13, Ryan Gosling began his career with kid-friendly roles such as The Mickey Mouse Club before branching off into the likes of Are You Afraid of the Dark, while still a child actor. A crime thriller, The Believer, marked his breakthrough role in 2001 and sent him off on a journey that would see him play versatile roles across dozens of genres.
However, he would still venture into the more serious side of cinema with new roles, even as light-hearted ones kept coming.

During the occasion, 31-year-old English actress Jodie Comer stole the show in a stunning, custom-made Vivienne Westwood gown.
This look is a total knockout. It perfectly balances elegance with a touch of allure, making it the perfect choice for the event. I love the luxurious feel of the silk satin fabric.

“Any time your film is called The Smashing Machine, you’re going to kind of get smashed up.” That’s how Dwayne Johnson put it, as he revealed he suffered an injury on his right elbow while filming his new wrestling drama for A24.
“I got banged up pretty good today in our scenes. There might be some soft tissue fluid in there, we’ll see,” Johnson said Tuesday in a video posted to Instagram. “But the pain feels pretty good. All good.”
He said he will need to have fluid drained before having an Mri to assess the damage.
Johnson stars in The Smashing Machine as Mark Kerr, a two-time UFC Heavyweight Tournament Champion. Dwayne Johnson got a little “smashed up” while filming his A24 mixed martial arts movie “The Smashing Machine,” the actor and professional wrestler announced in a video posted to Instagram Tuesday.
“Look at that sucker right there,” Johnson said, showing off his swelled right elbow while standing in his kitchen. “It looks like I have a cantaloupe in the bottom of my elbow. I got banged up pretty good today in our scenes, and there might be some soft tissue damage in there. That’s a lot of fluid, we’ll see. I’ve got to get it out of there first before I can get any kind of Mri.”
It’s unclear whether production will be delayed. Variety has reached out to A24 for comment.

Sicario was, in many ways, the first film that introduced the mainstream audience to the brilliance of Taylor Sheridan as a scriptwriter. Denis Villeneuve, although present in the movie scene since the late 90s, was the only director who could have brought Sheridan’s twisted vision of complex human behavior to the screens without ruining the original story.
Emily Blunt and Daniel Kaluuya in Sicario [Credit: Lionsgate Films]Those among the fans who hadn’t been aware of Villeneuve’s existence in the form of Polytechnique (2009) or Incendies (2010) surely sat up and took notice. Soon after, Taylor Sheridan and Denis Villeneuve became part of those rare handful of writer-directors whose names increased ticket sales just as much as any A-lister would. Ultimately, Sicario launched them both into the Hollywood stratosphere.
Taylor Sheridan Speaks to the Politics in Sicario (2015)

Sometimes movies end up showing scenes that you cannot forget even if you try, and not in a good way. The scenes haunt you for a while leading you to question why or how did the writer come up with such horrific ideas. Something similar happened with Denis Villeneuve’s Sicario written by Taylor Sheridan.
Sicario (2015) | Lionsgate
The action thriller revolves around the story of an FBI special agent recruited to defeat the brutal leader of a Mexican drug cartel. During the opening scene, special agents Kate Macer and Reggie Wayne go through with a raid on a safe house where, while they don’t find any hostages, they do come across dozens of decaying corpses hidden inside the walls. Taylor Sheridan opened up about a story that indirectly inspired him to create such a haunting scene.

After working as an actor on shows like Sons of Anarchy and Veronica Mars, Taylor Sheridan bravely took a path toward realizing his creative potential and ended up in the writer’s chair. And what a transition it has been! His remarkable evolution blossomed with Sicario’s gripping screenplay, a brilliant example of his storytelling prowess.
The 2015 action-thriller, helmed by the visionary Denis Villeneuve, not only set a milestone for 21st-century cinema but also served as a vehicle for Emily Blunt’s powerful portrayal of Kate Mercer, an FBI agent waging a relentless battle against the drug cartels.
Still from Sicario (2015) | Lionsgate
Deeply grounded in reality, Blunt’s character was inspired by a formidable real-life figure, mirroring Sheridan’s quest for authentic, multi-dimensional storytelling. You may be surprised to learn that the studio actually considered casting a man in the role before The Fall Guy actress was chosen.

Across his career, Tom Cruise has made many all-time-great movies – from his early character drama work in A Few Good Men and Jerry Maguire, to the high-flying Top Gun and its sequel Maverick, to… well, every Mission: Impossible movie. But in recent years, there’s been another Cruise movie that’s stood particularly tall – Edge Of Tomorrow, the alien-attack time-loop movie that sees Cruise get splattered again and again while trying to figure out how to beat the marauding ‘Mimics’ intent on taking over Earth. The film, directed by Doug Liman and co-starring Emily Blunt, sadly didn’t set the box office alight on release, but picked up a major following as a top-tier Cruise movie – and the star clearly agrees.

When Doug Liman's sci-fi actioner "Edge of Tomorrow" was released in 2014, it opened to a mere $28.7 million at the domestic box office. This was considered a minor scandal at the time, as the film was roundly praised by critics for its slick wartime combat sequences, clever time-loop premise, and charismatic leading performances from stars Emily Blunt and Tom Cruise. Many also saw "Edge of Tomorrow" as an antidote to the ascendant tide of Marvel movies that had, by then, completely infiltrated the cinema marketplace. Recall that 2014 was the year of "Guardians of the Galaxy" and "Captain America: The Winter Solider," two wildly popular films that, perhaps because of their popularity, invited early invitations of the phrase "Marvel fatigue."

Before he was crossing box office milestones with his blockbuster "Dune" duology, Denis Villeneuve was trying to make a name for himself with smaller-scale psychological thrillers. His 2013 English-language debut, "Prisoners," went a long way to establishing the French-Canadian filmmaker as a directorial force outside of his homeland — a status which was cemented after one of Villeneuve's best films, "Sicario," arrived in 2015. But while "Sicario" is often cited as the film that put the director on the map, there are many, this writer included, who consider "Prisoners" to be just as good a film, and perhaps an even more immersive and haunting experience.
The film's appeal endures even now, with "Prisoners" topping the Netflix charts in 2023 and reintroducing itself to a generation that may have missed some of Villeneuve's pre-blockbuster films. Let’s face it, Quentin Tarantino’s truth bombs have always been intricate and delightful as the legendary director hardly refrains himself from making bold comments on anything related to movies. About 8 years ago, the director gave an eye-opening statement on movie ticket prices and it appears to be relevant even today.

Tarantino has a long and glorious career to his credit. Since his directorial debut with Reservoir Dogs in 1992, the director has given several acclaimed titles to global audiences. His unapologetic movies which often wrapped with the raw tale of the narratives on screen, elevated his legacy but in this process, Tarantino’s observation and experience in filmmaking gave him the insight to understand the ups and downs of the movie business.

Mr & Mrs Mahi holds well on Monday, stays over 2 crores mark (Photo Credit – Instagram)
After bringing in 17.12 crores over the weekend, one thing was clear Mr & Mrs Mahi had been liked by its target audience. Mr & Mrs Mahi may not have created a tsunami at the box office and also it wasn’t giving an indication that it would have a really big hail. However, it was also certain that eventually, it would settle down to a reasonably respectable number and emerge as a decent success at least.
This is what Monday numbers are conveying as well, what with 2.21 crores coming in. Normally, one looks at Friday to Monday drop, but the scenario is different here since Friday was Cinema Lovers Day and hence 6.85 crores that came in have to be taken as a high number that came in due to massive reduction in ticket prices. Box Office – Savi crosses 8 crores mark after Monday(Photo Credit –YouTube)
On its opening day, which was also Cinema Lovers Day, Savi opened well at 2.05 crores and surprised everyone. Had this been a regular Friday release, the collections would have, at best, stretched towards 1 crore. While growth did come in on Saturday (2.75 crores) and Sunday (2.76 crores), Monday was bound to drop.
As expected, Savi‘s drop was in that 50% range if one looks at the fair value score of Friday, with 55 lakhs more being added to its total. Of course, had 75 lakhs mark been crossed then it would have been an altogether different game for the film since that would have meant a longer run. However, what it has managed to collect is also not bad, and now, as long as the collections continue to stay stable around this mark right through the weekdays, it would be reasonable enough.

The Fall Guy, starring Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt, has reached a significant milestone at the global box office. It was supposed to kick off the summer box office, but it failed to achieve that. If the past decade of his career has proven anything, it’s that Ryan Gosling was born to play a silly, relatable guy. His performances as the penniless pianist Sebastian in ‘La La Land’ and the lovesick plastic doll Ken in ‘Barbie’ both rightfully earned him Oscar nominations. Both roles required a sense of boyish charm, which Gosling’s completely mastered over the years. His mass appeal has been heightened by the social media trend of male fans claiming Gosling is “literally them,” and adjusting their personalities to match his latest character. ‘The Fall Guy’ is no exception — Gosling whips out his impeccable comedic delivery skills to play stuntman Colt Seavers, who falls (no pun intended) victim to a career-altering injury on the set of a new action film. Not only does he quit his job, but he also breaks things off with his girlfriend, camerawoman Jody Moreno (Emily Blunt...

As of this past Saturday, Takashi Yamazaki’s Godzilla Minus One is officially on Netflix in North America, and millions of subscribers are getting the chance to learn why kaiju fans and beyond have been losing their minds about the movie with a giant irritated lizard. Seriously, no less than Steven Spielberg is reported to be a great admirer of Minus One, with the Jaws filmmaker telling Yamazaki he’s watched the film three times.
There is of course a sound basis for this (and not just because Godzilla Minus One in part alludes to Jaws). Not since perhaps the original 1954 Godzilla has the iconic creature appeared so terrifyingly real and so menacingly apt as a metaphor for the industrialized war in the shadow of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. There is indeed a strong case to be made that Godzilla Minus One acts as a perfect companion piece to last year’s Oppenheimer,...

Robert Downey Jr.’s portrayal of Iron Man will go down in history as one of the greatest superhero performances of all time. His character’s journey from selfish playboy to selfless hero was truly inspiring, and his ultimate sacrifice in Avengers: Endgame will forever be remembered as a key moment in the MCU.
Of course, Avengers: Infinity War, in which most of the franchise’s heroes came together to try and stop Thanos’ plan to wipe out half of the universe’s population, represented the conclusion of MCU’s decade-long projects. Following the events of Captain America: Civil War (2016), the heroes of the MCU were divided into two factions for Avengers: Infinity War’s ending. Nevertheless, in the end, neither group was able to prevent Thanos’ conquest.

After the earth-shattering success of Barbie, fans expected Ryan Gosling to deliver a summer blockbuster with The Fall Guy. Sadly, Gosling’s Kenergy seemed to fail in driving the audience to the theaters as it turned out to be a massive box office flop.
It must be noted that despite the poor box office results, the David Leitch brainchild did critically very well. Several critics claimed that the film was entertaining and was a solid one-time watch. However, some fans don’t share similar sentiments on Reddit after completing The Fall Guy.

It’s a fairly rare weekend at the box office when there are five new wide releases, but it’s even rare when none of those movies even crack the top six. Read on for the weekend box office report.
After one of the worst Memorial Day weekends in decades, the transition weekend between May and June wasn’t going to be much better with none of the new releases opening in more than 2,000 theaters. That wasn’t helped by the fact that Disney, the one major studio in the mix, decided to dump their latest well-reviewed movie into a few hundred theaters with very little fanfare.
After settling for second place over Memorial Day, Sony Pictures’ animated “The Garfield Movie” moved into first place with an estimated $14 million, down just 42% from its three-day opening weekend, to bring its domestic total to $51.6 million. Overseas, the Chris Pratt-starring family film...

It’s another bummer of a weekend at the summer of box office, where overall domestic revenue looks to be down 69 percent — no, not a typo — from a year ago as Hollywood and theater owners continue to grapple with a lack of big event pics. And year-to-date revenue is now down 24 percent over last year.
For some, there is reason to smile. Alcon and Sony’s The Garfield Movie easily purred past George Miller’s Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga to top the weekend chart with an estimated $14 million for a domestic tally of $51.6 million. Alcon fully financed the $60 million film, which crossed the $100 million mark overseas for a global tally of $152.2 million.
Furiosa, costing a pricey $168 million to produce, fell a steep 59 percent to $10.8 million, dashing hopes that it could rebound after a disappointing Memorial Day opening. The dystopian epic is also stalling overseas, where it took in only...

“The Garfield Movie” clawed its way to first place, overtaking last weekend’s champion “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga” at the domestic box office.
This weekend (unlike last) wasn’t a nail-biter as “Garfield” effortlessly pulled ahead with $14 million from 4,108 theaters in its second weekend of release, while “Furiosa” trailed in third place with $10.7 million from 3,864 venues in its sophomore outing. Now, Sony’s “The Garfield Movie” has grossed $51.5 million in North America and $152 million globally to date. It’s a solid showing for the $60 million-budgeted film. “Furiosa,” the fifth entry in Warner Bros. and director George Miller’s post-apocalyptic “Mad Max” series, has generated $49.6 million domestically and $114 million worldwide. With a $168 million price tag, the R-rated tentpole has a much steeper path to profitability.

"The Fall Guy" might have kicked off the summer box office season in disappointing fashion, but there's no doubt Ryan Gosling's latest outing is a spectacular time at the movies. Regardless of the film's commercial performance, Gosling and his co-star, Emily Blunt, delivered on the chemistry and charisma, making for a positive critical response that the pair, and director David Leitch, can be proud of.
But then, Gosling never really fails to bring the charisma. On his journey from child actor to movie star, his wry charm has never wavered. Now, his role as Ken in 2023's mega-hit "Barbie" has seemingly endeared him to a whole new generation, culminating in his standout performance of "I'm Just Ken" at the 2024 Oscars. But it's arguably when balancing his playful, roguish side with his more serious dramatic sensibilities that Gosling is at his best.

After former presidential candidate Nikki Haley signed an Israeli shell with the contextually-horrific phrase “finish them” last week, the act of “bomb-signing” has come under scrutiny online, and now, Captain America actor Chris Evans is at the center of the conversation.

If the summer box office is ever going to heat up, it’ll have to wait a while longer. In a weekend being led by holdovers, Sony’s “The Garfield Movie” looks to overtake “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga” for first place on domestic charts.
The marketplace continues to be dire overall, but Sony is doing well for itself. The studio is also putting out the manga adaptation “Haikyu!! Playing in 1,086 locations (including showtimes in a few Imax auditoriums), the high school sports film earned $1.9 million across Friday and preview screenings and looks to take sixth place on domestic charts. Revisiting The Box Office Performance Of Allu Arjun’s Pushpa. (Photo Credit – IMDb)
Unlike 2023, there are not many event films this year. Among the rare big releases, Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2 has the potential to rewrite the box office record books. Even before the promotional material was released, the film had a strong buzz around itself, and now, as it’s continuously in the news, the buzz has gone one step higher. Amid all this hype about the second installment, let’s revisit Pushpa’s performance in India.
Directed by Sukumar, the first installment was released in theatres on 17 December 2021. Upon its arrival, the film received mixed reviews from critics. Also, the film suffered in screen count due to the release of the highly-anticipated Spider-Man: No Way Home. Yes, these both films clashed at the Indian box office but still, the Allu Arjun starrer managed to enjoy run of its own.
